AUDREY IRENE MELNYK
October 3, 1933 - February 1, 2023

We are saddened to announce the passing of our mom, Audrey Irene Melnyk on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Mom was predeceased by our dad Rudy (December 18, 1998); parents, Mike and Lena Krymski; in-laws, Bill and Carrie Melnyk. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughter Nancy; son-in-law Richard Gacek; grandchildren, Robin, Lauren, Carly (Ryan Kit) and Dr. James Gacek; son Bob (Joyce); grandchildren, Amanda (Ron Scheppner), Ryan; four great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Burban (Ajax, Ontario).
Mom and dad met at Hugh John MacDonald Jr. High when dad slid down the banister at break neck speed and knocked her off her feet. It was love at first sight. They were married two months short of 48 years.
Mom worked for Revenue Canada Taxation Centre, retiring October 1998. After 60 years of living on Inkster Blvd., she resided at River Ridge 1 where she made many new friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Atlantic - Garden City United Church, 725 Atlantic Avenue, Winnipeg. A private family interment will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation Manitoba would be appreciated.
We take great comfort knowing that mom and dad are together again, dancing amongst the stars.

  • Audrey, her parents, and sister Barbara were tenants in our home when I was born. Audrey and Barb were best friends with my sister, Hilda into adulthood, and I fondly remember Audrey as a beautiful girl with thick curly hair and lovely blue eyes that twinkled. Her mother and mine were friends and visited each other after Mrs. Krymski moved to Toronto in later life. In reading the obituary this morning, all the happy memories of long ago have come flooding back. Deepest sympathy to all your family. Regards to Barbara in Ajax.
