METRO BODNAR
After a lengthy illness on February 9, 2023, Metro went to join his wife, Violet.
Metro is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Melnyk and Pat Bodnar; grandchildren, Latoya (Paul), Ashley (Neil) Lakesha "Kiki"; great-grandchild Kaslo, son-in-law Mickey, and sister-in-law Vangie (Patrick) Kostyniuk.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Kataryna; daughter Darlene Duyile, son-in-law Michael, brother John and sister Anne.
Dad was born February 26, 1930 in St. Peter's, Manitoba. He lived on lot 106 St. Clemente's (Burns Road), and attended Kitchner School for grades 1 to 8. He then moved to Strathnaver Avenue in Selkirk, Manitoba.
Metro was employed by Winnipeg Electric Company in 1948 and moved to Winnipeg where he met Violet Obirek in 1952. They were married in 1954 and bought a house on Manhattan Avenue in Elmwood and lived there for 56 years.
Later on, he was employed by Winnipeg Transit and retired in June 28, 1991.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Seven Oaks Hospital.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street.
