DORIS LAUZE
June 23, 1936 - February 11, 2023

On the morning of Saturday, February 11, 2023 Doris Lauze (nee Bernier), passed away peacefully at the age of 86.
Doris is survived by her loving husband Claude; her children, Guy (Diane Lépine), Raymond (Francine Kubinec), Joanne Moores (Gary - deceased) and Charlene Nichols (Brady); her grandsons, Gaétan Lauzé (Josie Papadopoulos), Blake Nichols and Quinn Nichols; her sister, Lucille Drury; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Doris was born in Ste. Anne and later moved with her family to St. Norbert. She worked at the Red Cross blood bank until she married her sweetheart and had a loving marriage of 68 years.
While raising her family, she started her career at Case International as a bookkeeper, followed by 20 years at Revenue Canada until her retirement.
Doris was at the top of her class in high school and was a natural student all of her life. She always enjoyed studying and taking courses, either for work or pleasure, and kept up on current affairs. She was an avid reader and loved to sing. Doris was always trying new recipes well into her 80s and she was an excellent cook.
Doris will be remembered for her generosity, caring, and her willingness to offer help to anyone who needed it. She was always engaged in any community she lived in and left a lasting impression on all who met her. Doris loved to contribute to, and host, social events with family and friends, and the family home was a gathering place creating many fond memories.
Doris and Claude loved to travel; a love they shared with friends. The crowning period of their lives were the years they spent at their Traverse Bay cottage where they befriended dozens of neighbours and were active participants in many and varied activities, in particular the "happy hours".
The friendships forged during the different stages of their lives and particularly those with members of the cottage circle sustained Doris to the end of her life.
Doris' departure will be felt by many. Hers was a generous and loving soul and today, our little corner of the world feels like a lesser place.
A memorial will be held at a date to be determined in June or July.
Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
