EILEEN LARKIN
(nee SMITH)
Eileen Larkin passed peacefully on February 16, 2023, at the age of 94.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Mark; son, Doug (Laurie); daughter, Linda; son-in-law Paul (Jacquie). Eileen and Mark were blessed with many grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Eileen was predeceased by daughter, Alice; son, Rob; her parents, Andrew and Julia Smith and siblings, Reg, Henry, Margaret, Kay, Earl, Grace and Clifford.
Eileen was born in 1929 in the family farmhouse near Lintlaw, SK. She moved to Winnipeg when she was 19 years old, where she met Mark. They married in 1950 and soon bought a house in St. Charles, where they lived for the next 64 years.
Eileen was a stay-at-home mom for many years, returning to the workforce when the children were older. She worked at Safeway for 23 years, until her retirement.
Eileen was an amazing cook and baker. She also enjoyed fishing, golfing, knitting, crafts, bowling and travel. For years, Eileen and Mark camped, eventually purchasing land near the Narrows and moving a mobile home onto the property to enjoy summers. They often shared veggies with family and friends from the large garden they created.
Eileen's family thanks the staff at Oakview Place and the PRIME program at Deer Lodge for their kindness and care.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.
Those wishing to honour Eileen's memory may consider a donation to The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, 533A-715 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 1M6.

We are sad to learn of the passing of Eileen. Our Mom (Faith) spoke fondly of the old St. Charles days and the neighbours who made it so special. Mom was so happy when Mark & Eileen moved in to Sturgeon Creek II. She always enjoyed conversations with you both. Our heartfelt condolences on your loss. - Posted by: David & Dianna Brown (Former Neighbours) on: Feb 27, 2023

Mark, Doug, Linda. It seems you can never find the words to express sympathy at the passing of a spouse or parent. I know my parents would certainly be grieving right along with you - you were good friends for more years than I can remember. From Sandra and I, please accept our sincerest condolences at your loss. - Posted by: Rick Risbey (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2023
