ROBERT (BOB) CEASER
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, Robert (Bob) Ceaser. He passed on the morning of February 21, 2023, after a short illness at St Boniface Hospital.
Bob was born in Watson, Saskatchewan, on August 23, 1940, and spent his childhood happily on the farm. He attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, receiving his Bachelor of Arts and Commerce degrees. He began teaching economics and business law at Red River Community College in 1969, retiring after 35 years. Many of his students would remember him as a very kind man and a good instructor.
Bob married Faith Nieman on March 5, 1966, in Saskatoon. Together they had three children, Dr. Sean Ceaser, Shari Ceaser-Laurin and Cindy Ceaser, all residents of Winnipeg. Bob loved and was so proud of his five grandchildren: Stephan Laurin, Luc Laurin, Raelle Laurin, Darius Ceaser and Kydyn Ceaser. Also left to mourn him are his siblings Hugh and Allen Ceaser, and Shelly Smith.
Bob spent many miles and many hours driving his children to water polo and volleyball games and synchronized swimming practices. He also served as treasurer for Manitoba Water Polo for several years and organized fundraising Bingos. He unselfishly sacrificed for his children without complaint or ever asking for anything in return.
Bob loved to play bridge, especially with his best buddies Ian and Billy. The three of them played together for over 50 years, with Dennis joining them for the last decade or so. He also loved playing poker at the casino on Sunday afternoons, where he was affectionately known as "Santa Bob."
Bob was predeceased by his mother, Alice Ceaser (nee Gehl), his father, Thomas Ceaser, his brothers-in-law Pat and Dick Nieman, Ian Buckwold and his sons-in-law Paul Lafrance and Gerry Laurin.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, but especially by his family, whom he loved with all his heart. Bob's wishes were not to have a funeral. However, donations may be made in his name to Diabetes Canada.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I had the privilege of playing with and against Bob at Bridge starting 10 years ago on Thursdays at the Charleswood Active Living Centre. This continued with the Senator's Senior Bridge league on Wednesdays and Creaker's Duplicate on Fridays. He was amongst the best players and always a joy to talk with. He will be missed. - Posted by: Jim Snell (Fellow Bridge Lover) on: Mar 04, 2023

I met Bob at the Charleswood Active Living bridge club. I played bridge with him for just over a year. I remember that when I was his partner, no matter what cards I put down, he would always say, "Thank you partner, very nice.", even if they were crap! - Posted by: Kristin (acquaintance) on: Mar 03, 2023

My condolences to Cindy, I always have seen your parents walking on the street and remember when you were a young girl and you and Erin would come swimming in our pool. Time will lessen the pain, may your memories keep your dad forever in your heart. - Posted by: Cindy Lo (Neighbor) on: Mar 02, 2023

Faith, In the 16 years we met, I remember Bob as a very interesting person whom I enjoyed many conversations and laughs. These words also come to mind when I think of him: humble, intelligent and fun. He will be fondly missed. Beverly - Posted by: Beverly Ceaser (Daughter-in-law) on: Mar 01, 2023
