TO VAN LA
(LANG)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother (Ma) - To Van La, Grandmother (Ama, Apo) and Great-Grandmother (Tai Pho). Mom passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on Sunday, February 26, 2023. She was 99 years old.
Mom, of Chinese heritage (Wah Kiu) and born in Vietnam, embarked on a journey to Canada in 1981 alongside her husband and eight children as "boat people" in search of a new beginning in Winnipeg.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her nine children: Ai Yen La, Hac Son La (Bi-Yao Huang), Ai Lien La, Giang Son La (Phuong Quy Quan), Ai Tien La (Toan Dieu Duong), Ai Linh La (Tong Hung Luu), Bao Son La, Ai Hue La (Kim Huor Ngo), Ai Thanh La (Liang Chang). She also leaves behind 29 beautiful grandchildren, 18 loving great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Xuong Hoa La, two daughters: Ai Tam La, Ai Ha La, two sons-in-law: Diep Ich Thang, Vang Do Van and three grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, To Kin Lang, in China. Mom dedicated her life to her family for more than 70 years - until her last breath.
Mom was a gentle and cheerful person who enjoyed reading, singing, and had a fondness for cookies before bedtime. She loved singing along with her children during karaoke nights.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the health care professionals at the Seven Oaks Hospital who provided exceptional care for Mom during her last few weeks. Their unwavering dedication and compassionate attention to her needs were deeply appreciated.
All contributions received during the funeral ceremony shall be charitably donated to the Seven Oaks Hospital and the Huasing Buddhist Temple.
