DOROTHY JOYCE POND
(POPP)
Peacefully with family by her side, Dorothy passed at the age of 89 on February 27, 2023.
She is survived by her son Brent (Carol); stepdaughters, Danielle Pond and Cindy Pond (Siri); stepson Greg Pond; grandchildren, Tyler Klapecki (Brittany), and Natalie Klapecki (DJ). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Lily Popp, nephew David Popp (Teresa), niece Debbie Inglis (Duncan), niece Llyn Towle, nephew Ken Forgues, and many great-nieces. As well, she will be missed by the extended family of Carol Myers.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Leola Popp; husband Charles Pond; sister Audrey Forgues; brothers, Alex Popp and Murray Popp; and nephew Guy Towle.
She was born in Winnipeg on December 28, 1933, spending her early years in the West Kildonan area. Her and Chuck moved to the town of Birds Hill (East St. Paul) in 1977 where she resided until 2015. They enjoyed many winters, activities, and friendships in Pioneer RV Park near Phoenix, Arizona.
She was very social, kind hearted, and inquisitive about everything. Never one to sit idle she had many talents, most notably her award winning wood carvings. She loved nature and animals of all kinds. There was never a time the house was without dogs or cats or multiples of both, and on more than one occasion litters of kittens she and Chuck had rescued.
Dorothy enjoyed her time at the Irene Baron Eden Centre where she resided until recently. Our sincere thanks to the staff for the exceptional care she received there.
Her final days were at the River East Personal Care Home. Again, a sincere thank you not only for the care and compassion Dorothy received, but extended to family as well.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Tuesday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations, if desired, can be made to a charity of ones choice in Dorothy's memory.
