ELEANOR MAY HAYWOOD
Eleanor was born April 6, 1922 and passed away February 28, 2023, just shy of her 101st birthday.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Sarah Jane (Dilley) Gordon; her four brothers and two sisters; as well as her beloved husband, Reginald Haywood.
Eleanor married Reg on August 16, 1950. They settled in St. Boniface where they raised their son Gordon. Eleanor remained in St. Boniface - in her own home - until just four months before her passing. We are so grateful for the many community supports that helped make that possible.
Eleanor is survived and missed by her nieces and nephews, and her adopted granddaughter Cara Lizotte and Cara's husband Marc. They remember how intelligent Eleanor was, and how much she loved to garden. She had a seemingly endless knowledge of plants, and every summer her yard burst with flowers and vegetables.
When she didn't have a book in her hands you might find her painting ceramics or sewing clothing. She loved to travel, whether driving down the West Coast or travelling to Calgary for the Stampede. She loved all the animals she'd see along the banks of the Seine River. She had many cherished pets Sassy, Cleo and the two Shelleys, practically named Shelley I and Shelley II.
A celebration of Eleanor's life will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
For many years Eleanor attended the PRIME program at Misericordia Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to PRIME, Misericordia Health Centre, 99 Cornish Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1A2,
