DOLORES KATHERINE OLYARNICK
(nee BEZDIETNY)
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores Katherine Olyarnick (nee Bezdietny), of Gimli, Manitoba, at age 80, in the early hours of March 5, 2023, in her home surrounded by family.
Dolores will be missed dearly but lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Michael, son Dale, daughter Leanne with her husband Michael, and by her beloved grandchildren, Brandi, Nickolas, Cameron, Parker and Nathan, as well as by great-granddaughter Charlee. She is survived by her brother Richard (Ann); brother-in-law Gerry; sisters-in-law, Mary, Nancy (Ed), and Linda.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nellie and Bernard Bezdietny, parents-in-law, Nicholas and Teenie Olyarnick, sister Jeannette and brothers-in-law, Philip and Peter.
Born September 25, 1942, Dolores grew up on her family farm with brother Richard and sister Jeannette and attended school in Willow Creek. She met and fell in love with a boy from down the road, and on August 23, 1963, Mike and Dolores were wed. Together they built their family home and business down Parkside Road in Gimli. Almost a decade's worth of experience working with the Gimli Airforce Airport paved the way for Dolores's office savvy in their new business.
Family meant everything to Dolores. From Sunday morning breakfasts to holiday feasts, school concerts to generations of Ukrainian dance recitals, every birthday on the calendar to her beloved Christmas celebrations, Dolores was always happiest when she was surrounded by her loving family. And we, in turn, were all blessed by her bottomless well of love, support and guidance. Her love of cooking kept the table full of delicious meals, and she always had a cheesecake ready up her sleeve for the first signs that anyone was even thinking of heading out.
Dolores's infectious smile greeted everyone who entered Parkside Machine & Service Ltd., the family business that she ran with her husband, son and grandsons. Once you were inside, it was inevitable that you would be invited to sit a spell and enjoy some treats and warm conversation in Dolores's coffee corner.
It's hard to believe that Dolores took any time for herself, but when she did, she raised beautiful flower gardens, produced the most intricately gorgeous paper toll pictures to ever grace a frame, spent countless hours supporting St. Michael's Church in North Foley, and danced a mean polka whenever the opportunity arose. Summer evenings were her absolute favourite, cruising along the lakeshore with the top down in her prized black Mustang.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to friends and family for their love, sympathy and support.
We also want to extend a great appreciation and thank you to the dedicated health care professionals, and especially Dr. Patel, for all their care and compassion.
Donations can be made to CancerCare in Dolores's memory, with our sincerest appreciation.
A service honouring and celebrating Dolores's life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, N 5th Avenue in Gimli, MB, officiated by Father Buduykevych.
Forever in our hearts,
dearly missed, never forgotten.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Dear Mike and family, We were shocked and surprised to learn of Dolores’s passing. She was one of the nicest and considerate people you would ever want to meet. She will be missed. Our most sincere condolences. We are out of the country so won’t be able to attend the funeral. You will be in our thoughts. Mike, Dale, Leanne and family, My deepest sympathy on the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother. I grew up with having Dolores as a sister in law but she was like having another sister. I have so many memories but the one that is the most cherished is when it was picture day in school and Dolores was combing my hair. Love you Take care Linda - Posted by: Linda Zazulinski (sister-in-law) on: Mar 08, 2023
