JOAN ELAINE CYMBALISTY

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Joan Elaine Cymbalisty (nee Bywater) beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, on March 6, 2023, at the age of 83.
Joan was predeceased by her mother Jennie Bywater (1977) and by her brother Chuck Rene (1990). She will be missed by her three children, Jan Margraf (Ralf), Dave Cymbalisty (Wendy) and Bob Cymbalisty (Linda); her five grandchildren, Jason and Kelsey Margraf (Karl Nickel) of Winnipeg, Pearce (Kristy), Reece and Quinn Cymbalisty and great-grandsons, Oakes and Tripp Cymbalisty all of Calgary.
Joan was an outgoing person who enjoyed volunteering her time and meeting new people. She was especially grateful for being able to meet and spend time with her (twin) great-grandsons earlier this year.
While her failing health limited her abilities in recent years, there were many people and activities that remained near and dear to her heart - largely due to the friendships that she made.
Joan loved her family and holiday dinners spent together. She was also the all-time Trivial Pursuit champ. She enjoyed visiting the casino with her cousins and with her friends at 1630, cheering on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a good card game, reading a good mystery, and having a cold beer on a hot summer day. She also loved and missed her cat Hobbes, her neighbours on Mellish, bowling trips with the girls, volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society, and her time spent with the Fibromyalgia Support Group.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the compassionate care that Joan received from the River East Home Care team and the staff at Concordia Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Joan's honour.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
