MARILYNNE SIGRUN JOHANNSON
Peacefully, with family by her side, Marilynne Johannson passed away on March 6, 2023, at the age of 78.
Marilynne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Thor; children Charis (Greg) and Tammy; grandchildren Steph (Ian), Devon (Brittany), Mia (Mitch), Kael, Costa, and Isabella; and great-grandchildren Teddy, Myla, Wyatt, and Isobel.
Marilynne is survived by her loving siblings Caroline (Bob), June, Elma (Richard), Irene, Harvey (Barb), and Ralph, her brothers-in-law Lenny (Shelley) and Kenny, sisters-in-law Patti and Roseanne, as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Sigurdur (Siggi) and Kristrun Sigurdson, brothers-in-law Doug and Bob, and son Scott.
Marilynne was a kind and generous soul who was beloved by everyone who knew her. She adored being a mother and an Amma to her grandchildren and was always their biggest supporter. Her smile lit up the room and she was a friend to all.
Marilynne was a creative spirit who loved the arts, sewing and gardening. She was an amazing cook and loved the dinner club she was part of for many years. She was very involved in her community, having served on the Arborg Hospital Auxiliary board, and worked with the Women's Institute. She was also a longtime leader of 4H and was the President of the Riverton Skating Club.
Marilynne worked as a health care aide at the Arborg Personal Care Home for over 20 years. She truly loved her work and is remembered by many for her compassionate care.
Marilynne's family would like to thank the staff of Arborg Personal Care Home for their gracious and kind care of Marilynne and her family during this difficult time. They would also like to thank all of the home care staff that allowed Marilynne to be at home as long as possible.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 25, 2023, at the Riverton Community Hall at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilynne's name can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
