CAROL ANNE HILDEBRANDT
(nee ANDERSON)

May 27, 1962 - March 4, 2023

Carol Anne Hildebrandt (nee Anderson) age 60, of Piney, MB, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by close family on Saturday, March 4, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Andrew Hildebrandt, her daughters, Megan Hildebrandt and Corine Barley (Aaron), her grandchildren, Easton, Rhett and Navy, siblings, Lyle Anderson (Frederica), Linda Thompson (Kerry), Wayne Anderson (Cathy), sister-in-law Merle Anderson and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Lillian Anderson, granddaughter Blaire, siblings, Connie Anderson, Allen Anderson, Brian Anderson, and sister-in-law Debbie Anderson.
Carol was born in Roseau, MN, and spent her childhood growing up helping on the family dairy farm in Piney. She learnt the craft of cooking and baking from her mother Lillian which would grow to be a passion of hers. She graduated from Shevchenko High in 1980.
Carol and Andy were high school sweethearts who moved to Winnipeg together shortly after graduation to settle down and build careers and a family. They married on August 25, 1984. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Megan, in October 1987, followed closely by Corine, in June of 1989. Carol was a doting mother and wife who invested all of her time and energy into her husband and her girls. She is remembered fondly as a favourite aunt to her many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
The Hildebrandt family home was made warm and inviting by Carol, who would enjoy hosting many friends and relatives over the years. Her chef skills made the kitchen a common gathering place where all were welcomed by Carol. Although balancing family life and a career is no easy feat, Carol managed it effortlessly raising successful daughters, building countless friendships, and achieving a 37 year career with Great-West Life.
She retired in 2017 as planned with her husband, and they built their dream cabin in Carol's hometown of Piney. Carol enjoyed keeping a bountiful garden, having the biggest bonfires around and adventuring with Andy on the quad through her dad's sentimental homestead property better known as "The Ridge". Although the couple's plans for retirement travels were hindered by Carol's illness, she continued to be the best hostess and she was happiest when her grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews came to visit. Being a grandma was one of Carol's favourite roles in life, and she will be dearly missed by the little ones she left to remember her.
Please think of Carol often, remembering her for all her wonderful qualities. The family will be planning a summertime Celebration of Life gathering in 2023 and will extend invites to close family and friends as details are set.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba to help others in their fight.
