OLIVE JOYCE MOORE

It is with great sadness that the family of Olive Joyce Moore (nee Murray) announce her passing on March 8, 2023, at the age of 91. Mom was born June 6, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur (Art) William Moore in 2016, and brother-in-law Charles (Bud) Barbour in 2022.
Olive is survived by her three children, Bruce Percy Moore, Robert Arthur Moore (Yvonne), Donna May Sagness (Darren); her sister Margaret Barbour; her niece Tanis Schoen (Brad); as well as by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Olive moved to Benito, Manitoba after graduation from nursing school to start her career. It was there that she met her future husband, Art. He was apprenticing to become a butcher. Given their careers, the family always joked that she could provide medical attention if Dad had a bad day at work. Art and Olive eventually moved to Winnipeg and were married on December 24, 1955. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2015, prior to Dad's passing in April of 2016.
Mom continued working as a nurse at the Grace Hospital, Heritage Lodge and other hospitals in Winnipeg. Being a night-owl, she preferred the night shift. Mom had many interests outside of work. Gardening was at the top of the list. She spent many happy hours in the pursuit of producing vegetables and flowers in their large backyard garden. When the produce was harvested, she made sure it was preserved for the long winter ahead. She also took great pleasure in sharing the harvest with other families. Mom did a lot of volunteer work with various charities, including donating blood and coordinating volunteer efforts.
Mom lived her last few years in assisted living at Assiniboine Links. She recently moved to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg care home. The family is eternally grateful to all the staff at both facilities, including all of her home care workers, who cared for and touched her life while meeting her health care needs.
She passed peacefully and comfortably, on her own terms. We all miss her sense of humour and compassionate nature. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. At her request, there will be a private service at a later date for immediate family.
