JEAN WITKO
(nee DUDECK)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Witko, on March 12, 2023, at the young age of 105 years.
Predeceased by our Dad John who has patiently been waiting to welcome her to their new heavenly home for 21 years. Mom will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered by her five children, Joe (Paulette), Jim (Cheryl), Irene (Chris), Dianne (Sam), Bob (Shawna) and her 12 grandchildren and their families: Debbie, Susie, Tammy, Lori, Garwood, David, Jodi, Carri, Leah, Rachelle, Brett and Kandace along with 14 great-grandchildren.
Mom was the youngest of eight children born to Michael and Marie Dudeck on September 23, 1917 in Garson, Manitoba. She met our Dad and they married in 1942. With a lot of hard work and determination they built a life together and raised their family on the farm in East Selkirk where they lived for 35 years.
Mom's greatest love was her family and nothing made her happier than all of us being together. Sunday dinners were a must and missing them was not an option! We will never forget all the wonderful meals she made for us as she truly was the best cook ever.
Mom and Dad retired from farming in 1977 and moved to Selkirk. Mom was a very strong willed, amazing and independent lady living in her condo and being totally self sufficient to care for herself.
We will miss her dearly but happy that she is reunited with our father. Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will take place with her family.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish to donate in her memory are invited to contribute to the Selkirk Food Bank or the charity of their choice.
Rest in Peace Mom and Gramma
You will live on in our hearts forever.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk
in care of arrangements.

My husband was Michael Dudeck, Jean’s nephew. I have very fond memories of Aunty Jean and the farm. I had tried to visit every chance I could when in the area but it’s been a couple years as I’m not as mobile. My son Larry had spent many weekends on the farm growing up. I was very much in awe of her and lots of respect for her. Will miss her - Lorraine Dudeck - Posted by: Lorraine Dudeck (Niece (by marriage)) on: Mar 24, 2023

My mother, Viola, talked very fondly of Jean while she was at Kiwanis on the Red. My condolences to your family! - Posted by: Karen Mozdzen (Friend) on: Mar 18, 2023
