GEORGE ALEXANDER JACQUES
Our beloved dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend, George Alexander Jacques, unexpectedly passed away on March 3, 2023, at the young age of 62 after a long battle with depression. George was predeceased by his father George senior, and brother Shane.
He is survived by those who love and adore him the most, including his mother Dorothy; children, Kelsey and Blake; siblings, Deidre (Bill) and Kelly (Ande); and niece Ceara (Connor).
Those who knew George knew he could light up a room with his joyful presence, his comical sense of humour, and his desire to help every person he met. Even those who did not know George never felt like a stranger. His utmost care shined the brightest when teaching his son, Blake, his former hockey tricks done by George himself and educating his daughter, Kelsey, with his old study tools to fly through university the Jacques way, wink, wink.
George obtained an Economics degree at the University of Manitoba. George also had a passion for sports, throughout his life he played hockey and golf, and in his later years you could always find him swimming laps at the downtown YMCA.
George, you were a monumental dad, son, brother, uncle and friend, you will live on in our hearts forever and memories with you will never die. Until we meet again.
Remember to keep your loved ones in reach and always be kind.
There will be a celebration of George's life at 2:00 p.m., April 13, 2023, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Facility).

I love the Jacques family. My experience meeting George, 20 years ago, I was at Assiniboine park, roller blading and was in need of the facilities and a phone. He was gracious, kind and let my friend and I use the office bathroom and the phone. He was so familiar that I told him he reminded me of my boyfriend! He said, "O.k...what's your boyfriend's name?" with a sudden keen interest in my boyfriend. So, I said, "His name is Shane, oh my God are you his brother?!" And with the big brotherly love George had for Shane, we laughed and laughed about it, He said Shane was a lucky guy and immediately we became fast friends. So needless to say at the first family dinner, George and I could share our 'funny story' with the rest of the family, at the dinner table... George senior saw it as an opportunity to make fun of his older boys and me! Shane pretended to be jealous and I became one of the family! I want to say that the times I spent at the many family occasions were always warm and loving and filled with fun and spontaneity. With the utmost respect and love for your family, please accept my heartfelt sadness and wishes to overcome this terrible loss. George will always be remembered and I will always be happy I met him. - Posted by: Erin Danzinger (Friend ) on: Mar 21, 2023
Very sad news … my sincerest condolences to the Jacques family and to all who knew and loved George. I knew George as a very sociable, outgoing, confident man who loved the company of others He was always open and willing to share his opinions and was a meticulous and ordered detailist George loved sports!!! He was a dominant force on the ice and even more passionate in the stands. He was always a welcome addition to all of our golf events. We affectionately called him the “Rhino” … a tag he absolutely loved. George was very competitive…. and was no stranger to stirring the pot … and will be fondly remembered for his magnanimous personality. He was a funny, jovial, blunt, gregarious, powerful man! He was my friend …. and I will miss him greatly. - Posted by: Pete Guttormsson (Friend ) on: Mar 20, 2023
Don’t even know what to say. Thinking of you all. Hoping you and Shane are reconnecting on the other side, and hoping Shane was there to welcome you, and show you around. My heart hurts. - Posted by: Jonny Roode (Friend ) on: Mar 19, 2023
I first met George (Geo) in 1988… He was kind, intelligent, and charismatic. He was the first person ever to tell me: pinky finger in the air… “You know, one day, we will all have our own personal computers in our homes!”… and a few years later: “There’s something coming called the internet… You’ll be able to find out anything!” I had much respect for his intelligence and kindness. I would usually seek George’s opinion and advise on many current events and life’s challenges. Although I only touched base with George on his birthday, I will miss him dearly. Rest well Geo, it was a honour to call you my friend. - Posted by: Teddy Ryplanski (Old Friend / Colleague ) on: Mar 18, 2023
I am so sorry to hear this awful news. My deepest condolences to Karen, Kelsey and Blake. I had heard that George had been struggling but I had lost touch and I regret that now. I remember George very fondly, he was an engaging guy who always seemed so full of life and energy. I learned about about hockey from him too when our sons played together one year. This is a tragic loss, but I hope he is at peace after all his struggles. To live in the hearts of those you love is to never die... - Posted by: Rick Yarish (friend) on: Mar 18, 2023
Well Georgie I hope everything is a little more peaceful for you now. It was sad news for us while we were on vacation. But believe us when I tell you this, we did have a couple of 1919's for you :) I/we have many stories and memories of us all enjoying life as it should be enjoyed. Whether it was golf, hockey, swimming at your moms, hanging out in my backyard while I was slaving on the BBQ :_) , lighting fireworks off Lyndale Dr. New Years and even our long Covid walks.. We will all miss you very much and so will that favorite chair you sat in during stressful Jet games :) Travel well my friend, travel well. Love ya :) - Posted by: Johnny " Crow " Kraupnar (Friend) on: Mar 18, 2023
