GORDON ANDREW MCINTOSH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Andrew McIntosh on March 9, 2023. Gordon passed away peacefully with Susan in hand and his family surrounding him.
Gordon was born on October 13, 1963, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Gord leaves behind his wife Susan; son Mathew (Kayla); daughter Justine (Dawson); granddaughter Mila; sisters, Terry and Cindy (Mike, Cooper, Mikye); brother Roger (Elizabeth, Rachel); step-mother Gloria (Owen); brother-in-law Johnny (Kathy, Hailee, Darian); sister-in-law Anne (Octavia); and many many more. Family meant the world to him, from family in Manitoba, to Alberta and British Columbia.
He is predeceased by his mother Patricia and Wayne McIntosh; and his father Kenneth Tait.
Gord was raised in Elmwood, along with his sister Terry. At a very young age, Gord became a responsible older brother that cared for his sister more than anything.
Terry meant the world to Gord, literally until his last day on this earth. Everyone knew when they would see Terry walking up, Gord would be following right behind her.
When Gord and Terry were in their teens, Pat and Wayne adopted their newest son Roger, who quickly became a sibling and part of the McIntosh family.
Gord had taken a course at Kildonan East Collegiate and soon after, he realized that he found a trade he enjoyed; he was going to be a plumber. Gord always said, "Plumbers are basically doctors." A motto that his son Mathew still lives by to this day.
Gord and Sue raised Justine and Mathew at their well-known house on Munroe (across from Morse Place C.C.) until 1998 when they moved to East St Paul. This is where the four of them started the life Gord has always dreamed of. Having neighbours as best friends, a backyard to fit a hockey rink in and a basement full of endless memories. Gord carried on his dream of being a plumber and recently started his own business with his son Mathew. Mathew is a younger version of Gord. He always makes sure everyone is happy and comfortable and taken care of…even before himself. Mathew was his twin and Gord was so proud of him. Justine doesn't fall too far behind him. Justine was his baby girl. He raised her to make sure she stands her ground when needed, but is also as loving and caring as he was. Gord and Sue raised Mathew and Justine to be very wise and independent individuals.
In 2013, Mathew's girlfriend Kayla was introduced to the family and Gord and Kayla very quickly had a father daughter like relationship. In 2020 Mathew and Kayla welcomed their baby girl Mila who immediately became Gord's princess, he loved nothing more than being a grandfather, that was his new pride and joy.
Susan, his wife of 35 years, and partner for 45 was Gord's pride and joy. Gord and Sue's relationship was like no other. The love they shared for one another was indescribable. From the memories of sneaking into each other's houses in middle school, to all the boat rides, they never left each other's sides. The endless trips they took together, whether it was for Mathew or Justine's hockey, or the trips they took to Laughlin, Nevada to escape real life for a bit. Susan was his queen and he made sure everyone knew.
The McIntosh family and extremely widespread friend group is going to miss Gord more than words can describe, but we have peace knowing that he is no longer in pain.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to CancerCare Manitoba in honor of Gordon McIntosh.
Gord McIntosh's Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on March 25, 2023. It will be at 2100 McPhillips St. Canad Inns Garden City.

  • We are sad and sorry to hear about the terrible loss of Gord, a truly wonderful and great guy. Our deepest condolences to Susan and Family and we hope everyone is there to support them. Whenever he was called regarding a plumbing issue here, he would promptly tell me that he would be here to handle whatever was needed to repair. He was such a wonderful person, and this is reflected in his son, Mathew, whom I was also fortunate enough to meet. Accompanied by my late husband, Jim, they would go together - to talk "shop" - Gord about his Plumbing, and Jim about his Welding, in being an Ironworker and his business as a General Contractor. Now I am certain the two of them are together, still chatting about their trades and problem-solving. Gord will be missed by so very many - he truly made his mark in the world- and what a wonderful mark it was- and this is a testament to whom he truly was. - Posted by: Chris Daly & Family (Building Resident Manager of 85 Carriage Road & Acquaintance) on: Mar 19, 2023

  • Dear Sue and family, We were so sorry to hear about Gord’s passing. He was a wonderful and giving person. We saw how much he cared about you, your children and family. We spent alot of time with your family during our children’s hockey days. Oh we had wonderful times together, nightly hockey practices, many tailgate gatherings at the rinks where many fond memories were made. Not to mention our travels together as a hockey family to tournaments and the trip to Quebec City for Matthew’s Peewee Tournament. Gord was a great friend, so sad that he left this world so young and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. We are sending you and your family our deepest sympathy and love in your time of sorrow, but always know that Gord will continue to walk and be by your side and in your heart, your memories can never be taken away! Sorry we cannot attend the celebration of life as we are away out of the country but our thoughts and prayers will be with you! • I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the friends & family of Gord for their loss. He was a true friend and extremely proud of his family. When I would call him for business, he always treated me with the utmost respect. Regardless of whether he would purchase products from me that day, he always listened intently. Business lunches with Gord meant scheduling longer lunch hours. He always seemed to know everyone in the restaurant and, of course, they all wanted to talk to him. You could tell how much he was valued by everyone. When my daughter was young, she would joke that I had Mafia connections as I could "get things done". It wasn't me, it was all Gord. He was always willing to help me, and always had the best connections. They say God takes the good ones. Well, he has a good one with Gord. Rest well, my friend, I will miss you. - Posted by: Dave & Sandra Boutet (Business & Friend) on: Mar 18, 2023
