• Doris has been a special friend for many years. I first met Doris when I, Cindy, was the organist for a few years at the Clarkleigh United Church & also through the Christian Women's Club Dessert Coffee Meetings held in Lundar, which she was instrumental in spearheading. I appreciated her strong faith, her Godly wisdom, her prayers, her gift of hospitality (she was a wonderful baker!) & especially her gift of laughter! One memory that I have is going with Doris, Mabel Fingland & Margaret Wainwright to a Women's Conference at Hecla. As mentioned in her obituary, Doris enjoyed going on "adventures" & our "adventure" started off by Doris driving over my square, RED (like how could you not see that?!) Tupperware container full of muffins that I had put with my luggage out on the sidewalk beside my driveway! Tupperware is strong, but not that strong & needless to say, it got rather crunched! She was quite horrified & very apologetic & offered to replace it. The muffins miraculously somehow "survived," sort of, & we still had a good laugh about her driving skills or lack there of! I don't think this was Doris' "only" driving "mishap?" There is something to be said about 4 women who start singing hymns & choruses at 2:00 a.m.! First the giggles & muffled laughter started, followed by the SNORING! I finally went down to the front desk & asked if there was any place I could catch a few winks because it certainly wasn't going to happen in our room!! We had SUCH a FUN weekend together & whenever the 4 of us would get together, often at a Christian Woman's Club Dessert Coffee, the "Hecla" trip would undoubtedly be brought up, along with more laughter as we reminisced! The other memory of Doris I have is her unconditional love & genuine care & concern that she had for people. She had giftings in leadership but also evangelism, hosting Friendship Bible Coffees in her home for many years. Her heart was that she wanted everyone to know the love of Jesus Christ & His death on a cross to pay for not only the sins of the world, but for each one of us personally. She LOVED her family & was so very proud of you all, not just for your many accomplishments but for WHO you EACH were! As family I'm sure you all know but also as her friend, that her warm & loving HUGS were THE BEST! Our thoughts & prayers are with you all during this time. We know as believers in Our Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ, that even though we die, yet shall we live! That is our HOPE that we WILL see our loved ones again! Doris' physical body on this earth grew weak & she died but be reassured, she is MORE ALIVE now than she ever has been! I wonder what "adventures" she's having with loved ones who have gone before her & especially with JESUS?! • Doris has been a wonderful neighbour and friend to our family for many years, and a very special friend to my Mom, Audrey Greenham. She was a very loving and warm person who taught us love and faith just by being herself. I can still hear her laugh and see her smile and the twinkle in her eyes.
