GREGORY JOHN CORBITT

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Greg Corbitt on March 14, 2023.
Greg was born November 18, 1948 to parents Helen and Robert Corbitt. Greg and his family grew up in the North End of Winnipeg where he made lifelong friends and met his partner of 41 years, Fran. Greg attended Sisler High School where he graduated then began his 30 year career for the Winnipeg School Division. Greg retired in 2004 before moving to Erickson, MB to enjoy some time with family, especially his grandson Dylan who he loved beyond measure. Greg returned to Winnipeg years later where he joined Yarrow Sash and Door and then Weidner Homes until his passing. Greg loved to work, to meet new people and to make new friends.
Greg is survived by his wife Fran, son Jesse (Angelica), daughter Kelly (Dylan), grandchildren, Dylan (Sarah), Isis, Mariah, Zac and Meadow, and his sister Marilyn.

Greg was the nicest, funniest, most genuine person you could ever meet. We will miss you forever, we love you.

  • Greg was such a huge part of my childhood…my heart is broken. Not only was he kind and generous…but so funny! So many amazing memories from my childhood that will never be forgotten. Greg used to come and play with me while I waited for Marlene to come home from school. He would make me laugh constantly when I would spend the weekends with Marlene…and my favourite memories are when he would chase Marylyn around the house on Sunday mornings. It has been too many years since I’d seen him last…but he still makes me smile..and my heart feel full when I think of the “good old days” Thank you Greg for all the wonderful memories. Deepest condolences to the whole family. - Posted by: Andrea Remple (Like family) on: Mar 26, 2023

  • It is with great sadness we offer our condolences to all of Greg's family upon his sudden passing. We met Greg during his last employment and developed an instant friendship. Greg had such a kind hearted soul and had a smile for everyone he met at work. Greg and I had many conversations where we would both laugh, then wish each other a good day. Though he has passed on, our memories of him will be in our hearts forever. Rest in peace my friend, till we meet again. • Our families, the Corbitts and the Bells, shared many terrific times together and we were sad to hear of Greg's passing. Although I haven't seen Greg for many years, he was a large part of my growing up in Winnipeg. The Corbitt front door was always unlocked and it was la second home to me. Greg used to go with us or sometimes take myself, my youngest brother, Ralph and his youngest brother, Roy to the movies at the Palace Theatre on Selkirk. One of the best memories I have was of Greg winning a walking doll when I was with him - which he gave to me - as I was kinda of his youngest "sister". Even though I was 5 years old, I have never forgotten that. And Greg also took me to my first rock concert when I was 12 - I got to see the Rolling Stones at the Winnipeg Arena. How lucky I felt. Sending my deepest condolences to Fran, Marilyn and your family. Love Lorraine Bell (Allen and Linette, Wayne and Margaret - we all have great memories of Greg). May he rest in peace and may the memories of Greg provide you with comfort. - Posted by: Lorraine Bell (Family friend) on: Mar 25, 2023
