ROGER GEORGES VERMETTE
October 1, 1942 – March 19, 2023
Roger Georges Vermette of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Manitoba was born October 1, 1942 and passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023, at Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade.
Il laisse dans le deuil sa femme Paulette (Marion), sa fille Micheline (Eckhard Dittbrenner), ses fils Rossel (Michelle), Ronald (Jody Hall) et ses petits enfants Melony Dittbrenner (Cody Hayden), Sage, Cedar, Willow Hall Vermette, André et Madeleine Vermette.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Lorraine (Renald) Parent, Colette Letourneau and his brother Richard. He also leaves to mourn his in-laws, Edith Clark, Marielle (Jerry) Hoffman, Paule Marion, Leah Vermette, Karen Vermette, Doriset Albert Combot.
Roger fut précédé par ses parents Pierre et Cécile Vermette, ses frères Denis, Guy et Louis; ses soeurs Raymonde Doyle, Denise McPhail, Léa et Tony Dorvault, Noella et Arnold Fontaine, Louise et Raymond Dupuis; ses belles-soeurs Carmelle Vermette, Lucille Marion, Laura Penner, Jeanine Ostrom; ses beaux-frères Albert Letourneau, Ronald Marion, Tony Morin et Ernest Marion.
Roger a grandià Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Il a rencontré l'amour de sa vie Paulette (Marion) et l'épousa il y a 54 ans.
Il aimait beaucoup les sports surtout le hockey et au baseball. Il fut éducateur pendant 34 ans soit comme enseignant ou directeur d'école à Saint-Jean. Lors de sa retraite, il entreprit un autre défi quand il fut nommé préfet de la Municipalité de Montcalm pendant 12 ans.
His favourite pastime was being a devoted grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also special to his many nephews and nieces who appreciated his help and his sound advice.
May you rest in peace Roger, dad, pépère! Tu seras toujours dans nos coeurs.

I would like to pay tribute to Mr Vermette as I called him as a student. He was a great science teacher and I think he taught us boys phys ed. I remember him allowing me to build and test a model jet engine made out of an old hand vacuum cleaner and an old ignition coil fueled by gasoline! I tested it outside in the school yard. That would never be allowed now, I think; but he probably thought it was safer for me to do it at the school than on my own at home.
