RITA JEANNINE LOUGHEAD 

Born June 29, 1940, Calgary, AB

Our dear mother passed away peacefully March 18, 2023.
Mom showed us what it meant to persevere through loss and difficult times, she overcame a great deal in her life and never lost the ability to enjoy pleasures such as gardening, music, sewing, preserving food and of course, her family. Mom was fiercely devoted to her family, her most joyful times involved caring for her grandchildren, dressing them up in the clothes she had made and taking pictures of them as if they were in a fashion magazine. Mom had great fun dressing up for Halloween or as the Easter Bunny helping the little ones find their treats cleverly hidden all around them. These family times were precious to Mom.
We will remember the valuable lessons she taught us on choosing to be happy, to never give up and to make your family the priority in your life. Mom was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, sons, Bruce, Brian and Charlie and grandson Julian. She leaves her daughter Maureen (Dennis), son Andrew, grandchildren, Jessica (James), Victoria (Michael), Cameron (Cara), Lindsay and great-grandchildren, Adrian, Lily, Maya, Brooklynn, Bailey, Olivia and Nixon to cherish her memory. We her family proudly acknowledge our Red River Metis heritage handed down to us from her/our ancestors. Although mom was not able to know her siblings, we feel its right to acknowledge these individuals as part of Mom’s early life. Brothers, Cecil and Kenny, sisters, Donna Mae and Eileen, may you all play together in Heaven as you should have on this earth.
