DONALD JAMES MACKAY
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald James MacKay of natural causes on January 31, 2023.
His sudden passing leaves a void in the hearts of his children, Darren, Justin, and Alesha, their mother Debbie (née Masiowski) as well as his sister Francine Gontier, brothers, John and Garrie, sister-in-law Brenda, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Sutherland MacKay and Jane Tannock MacKay (née Glover).
Born March 30, 1958, in Glenboro, Manitoba, the youngest of four children, Donald grew up on his family's farm where he learned the importance of family and community and the value of hard work. After graduating from high school, he moved to British Columbia where he attended Vancouver Community College and completed their Diesel Mechanics program. He then returned to Winnipeg to start his career and a family of his own.
Donald has made and maintained countless friendships during his years in the industry, the last 23 years of which, were spent at Coca Cola Bottling Ltd. His early retirement last year gave him the opportunity to relax and enjoy fishing and golfing with friends, as well as the time to take on new projects at home. Although you'd be more likely to find him assisting friends with their own projects.
He always put the needs of others before his own and enjoyed sharing his skills and learning new ones. He will be remembered for his patience, kindness, willingness to help, and ability to face any challenge with a joke and a smile.
However, most important to Donald was his role as a caring and devoted father. He lead by example and loved unconditionally. His unwavering support and positivity will continue to guide his children.
Donald's passing will be felt deeply by all who were lucky enough to know him.
A private Celebration of Life will take place later this summer. Friends and family are encouraged to leave condolences and share photos and memories by visiting the memorialized Facebook page of Donald MacKay.

My condolences to the family of Don. I was very sad to hear about Don's passing. I'm a fellow worker with Don at coca cola. Each time I went to see Don at the garage for something it would include a funny comment of some kind and a smile. I appreciated knowing him. I share your shock and sadness. - Posted by: Wes Suderman (Fellow worker ) on: Apr 11, 2023

Our sincerest condolences. Donny was like a member of our family, always there to help or give advice with any project we needed. He particularly holds a special place in my kids hearts. Hannah loved play fighting with Donny, while Owen enjoyed golfing, fishing, working on yard work and other projects with him and my dad. He will be deeply missed.
