JAMES ROWLAND HORTON
1928 - 2023
With sorrow we wish to announce the peaceful passing of James Rowland Horton on Wednesday, March 22 at the age of 95.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn; his son James and wife Lisa; his daughter Laurene and grandsons, Michael (with partner Nina) and Daniel.
Jim was born in Winnipeg in 1928 to Nora and Rowland Horton, whose elder child was Jim's brother, Bob. Jim married Evelyn Richards in 1958. Although they lived in various places, most of their life was in Windsor Park where they were members of St. Bartholomew's Church. Most of Jim's working life was in Winnipeg with the CN Railway, from which he retired in 1990.
Jim was a great father and husband, a gentle and friendly man with a fine sense of humour. He loved his music and was an enthusiastic collector of records and CDs of many musical artists. He was in particular a fan of jazz and big band music, especially Frank Sinatra.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Many thanks to the caring nurses and aides at Victoria Hospital.
