CARMELINE SELMANOVIC

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmeline Selmanovic on April 1, 2023, at the age of 92 years. She passed peacefully at the River East Care Home, where she lived for almost five years.

Cherishing her memory are her four sons, Richard, Randy, Rob and Barry, her daughter-in-law Lucille and her granddaughter Jordan. Carmeline is survived by her sister Angela, her sister-in-law Lucille, and her brother-in-law Otto. Also sharing in her memory are her many nieces and nephews. Carmeline was predeceased by her husband Bruce, of 64 years, her mother and father Katarina and Pietro Falvo, her brothers, Joseph, Bruno, sister Kay, sister-in-law Jane and her brother-in-law George.

Mom carried her Italian heritage with pride. One of the gifts of her upbringing was her cooking skills. Her Sunday night spaghetti dinners were always a family favourite.

Mom loved to dance, and met her future husband at the then-famous Holy Rosary Dance Hall. Carmeline also loved beach days, picnics, bowling, bingo, puzzles, and board games. She had a competitive and playful spirit.

While raising four sons she still managed to take various employment throughout the years, including a job at Eaton's that she loved. Later, Carmeline generously donated her time by volunteering at Age and Opportunity Centre where she enjoyed helping seniors.

We will miss her beautiful smile, joyful laugh, and kind-hearted nature. We are forever grateful for all that you brought to our world for so many precious years. You will be in our hearts and memories forever... Thanks Mom!

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • As children, there were many Sunday afternoons spent at her parent's home where we would enjoy playing cards and raiding the garden for chickpeas. Skipping rope was one of our challenging exercises which she loved. Her mom always made sure we kids had a fill of apple pie. She loved her bicycle and enjoyed her many trips downtown to visit my mom, her God Mother. Carmelina was a charmer, everyone loved her smiling and laughing way. In our younger days Carmelina was the love of our family. May she rest in peace. Peter Maruca - Posted by: Peter Maruca (Carmelina was my mothers God Child) on: Apr 11, 2023
