LINDA MARY BEARDY
We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our dear Baby Girl Linda.
Linda was rights holder and member of Lake St. Martin First Nation with a large family in North Spirit Lake, Ontario as the daughter of late Oji-Cree Artist Collins “Wawatay” Campbell.
Linda leaves behind her precious children, Tyrone, Janessa, Deanna and Devin, stepfather Charles Patrick Harper, sisters, Colleen, Lucy, Susan, Colynda, Ginger (Justin), Francine, Lisa and Cora, brothers, Nickolas and Charles “Chucky” Harper, aunts, Bertha (Clifton) McKay, Eva Beardy, Martha (Kerry) Beardy, Jessie Grenier and Christine Campbell, uncles, Louie Beardy (Delores), Andrew “Cheese” Beardy, Joseph (Yolanda) Campbell and Phillip (Joyce) Campbell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Linda was predeceased by her father Collins “Wawatay” Campbell, mother Betty Beardy, maternal grandparents, Gilbert “Mouse” and Susan Beardy, paternal grandparents, Noah and Lucy Campbell, aunts, Harriet Anderson and Linda Kakewash, uncle Mervin Campbell and stepsister Tanya Wood.
Linda was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Growing up in a blended family home, she was the baby in the family and forever became known to us as "Baby". She was well loved by her large family. She was the favourite auntie to her beloved nieces and nephews; “Auntie Baby” as she was affectionately called by them. She was always there for her siblings and jumped in where needed. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was often happy, smiling and was well liked amongst the people she met. As a child, she was athletically gifted and competitively swam. During this time she was incredibly fit and often would flex her muscles to show off her hard work. This came to an end after losing her mother in a tragic accident when Linda was 13 years old. Afterwards, Linda was raised by her sister Lucy until Linda became a mother herself.
Linda absolutely adored being a mommy to her four children. They were her pride and joy. She had a lot of love and patience with her little ones. She loved playing with her kids and spending time with them. She held fun birthday parties for her kids and made holidays memorable.
Linda will be remembered for her strong Christian faith. She had a heart of gold and never hesitated to lend a shoulder of support to anyone in need. Her contagious laugh filled any room she was in.
This is who Linda "Baby" Beardy was and how she will be remembered in our hearts. She will always be truly and deeply loved beyond measure.
The family would like to thank the enormous amount of individuals and organizations that have been supportive during this time of sorrow - too numerous to individually mention at this time.
