David Alan Baines passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 5, 2023, with his wife Joan and stepdaughter Gillian by his side.
Dave will be lovingly missed by his wife of 20 years, Joan; stepdaughters, Gillian Bresch-Giesbrecht (George) and Megan Bresch; step-grandchildren, Astrid, Katrina, Beckett, Landon, Andreas and Mila; siblings, Brenda Grady (John), Lorna Floyd (Matthew) and Darryl Baines (Lisa); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Muriel Baines; sister Sandra Schwab; and stepson Donald Bresch.
Dave was born and grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. Dave has lived in North Carolina, Arizona, Nevada and Maine. Dave made the big move to Winnipeg in 2002 to marry the love of his life, Joan. Dave was embraced by his large new family and truly enjoyed being a (step) Grandpa.
Dave had many talents and worked in a variety of positions throughout his life. As a young man Dave worked on a team that bought, repaired, restored and sold vintage cars. He apprenticed in cabinet making in North Carolina and has also worked in various purchasing and inventory control positions. In New England he attended estate sales and auctions, finding many treasures and antiques to resell. Before retirement, Dave worked at the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg as an inventory clerk.
Dave could fix or build anything, but his greatest passion was woodworking using vintage hand tools whenever possible. One of his many projects included a beautiful rolltop desk for Joan.
Dave enjoyed many camping trips with Joan, exploring Canada from Thunder Bay to the Canadian Rockies. One of his favourite camping spots was Grand Beach, Manitoba.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.,, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of David. He was a very quiet and private person. Our years at the RCM were probably the best years that our company had. RIP David - Posted by: Jeanette Fllion (Co-worker) on: Apr 15, 2023
