SHIRLEY KING
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. Shirley King who passed away peacefully at the Extendicare/Oakview Place in St. James, at the age of 96.
Many thanks from the family go out to the staff of Actionmarguerite Personal Care Home and Oakview Place, as well as the Home Care Agency for their care for Shirley in these latter years.
In keeping with Shirley's wishes, she has been cremated. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if anyone wishes to make a donation, we know Shirley would appreciate donations to go to animal shelters, such as Craig Street Cats or shelter of your choice.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. King. I would have like to thank her for the kindness and patience that she help me with my speech therapy when I was 7-8 yrs old. I had her help for one year in River view school Grade 2. (1977-78?) I am very thankful that you Mother and Grandmother took the time to help children who needed extra help in our speaking. - Posted by: Iona (Student) on: Jan 04, 2024

I am very sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was a long time supporter of Craig Street Cats, and a great lover of all cats. Her quarterly phone calls asking me to drop by to pick up goodies for the cats were always the start of a great afternoon chatting about cats and their antics. Shirley will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Lynne Scott (friend) on: Apr 21, 2023

I was saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. Shirley and Ian and their furry friends were our neighbors for many years. RIP Shirley. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Shirley Mason (former neighbor) on: Apr 16, 2023

I remember her as a very kind and friendly woman. She would allow my brother and sisters and I over to their house to visit their large Iguana, I believe his name was Jolly. I'm pretty sure there were cats as well. My gramps remained friends with her and Ian until he passed and then she stayed in touch with my mom and dad. Such a good hearted person. - Posted by: Kevin coontz (Her neighbor's grandson) on: Apr 15, 2023

Shirley was our next door neighbour for many years in St. James. We had many interesting chats over the fence. She loved her cats and used to walk some on a leash. Fond memories. - Posted by: Bruce Dagg (Neighbour/ friend ) on: Apr 15, 2023
