LUBA KUZINA
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother on April 14, 2023 at the age of 93.
Luba is lovingly remembered by her son Paul, daughter-in-law Wendy and her two grandchildren, Marisa and Kyle. She also leaves her two sisters-in-law, Iris and Jean, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred and her parents Paul and Stella Boresky.
Luba was born on December 19, 1929 and was raised in Fort William, Ontario. It was there that she met Fred, a Winnipegger who was working there at the time. They married in 1954 and moved to Winnipeg. Her greatest joy was when Paul was born and even more so when Marisa and Kyle were born. She was so proud of their accomplishments and spoiled them like any grandma would. She loved to travel with the family, especially to the United States for shopping trips. She also loved to bake, her crescent rolls were amazing. She enjoyed tending to her garden and geraniums in the warmer months. For any holiday celebration, she was happiest preparing lots of food for a huge group even though there were only six of us at the table. She was a wonderful mom and grandma. She will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank all the staff at Home Instead, especially Gredelcy and Jojo, for the many years of wonderful care that allowed mom to remain in her own home until last June. We would also like to thank the staff at Actionmarguerite St Joseph’s Residence (unit 1) for all the compassion and kindness given in her final months.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue with Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Luba’s memory to Friends of St Joseph’s Residence Foundation.

We had the pleasure of being Luba's neighbor for a few years! She was such a happy, kind and spirited lady. Lots of over the fence visits, laughs and sharing of garden goodies. You couldn't ask for a nicer neighbor and we sure missed her when we moved. I surprised her once when I was in Winnipeg with a drop by visit and that day she was sad as it was the anniversary of her beloved Fred's passing. I had just lost my mom so we shared tears, hugs and stories both coming away feeling better. We are so sorry to hear of her passing. Our sincere condolences to her family. She will always be a happy memory for us and we are grateful we knew her. Cindy & Ross Sullivan - Posted by: Cindy Sullivan (Neighbor ) on: May 10, 2023
