Date of Passing: Apr 15, 2023
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD ARTHUR PAULISHYN
Regrettably, Edward Paulishyn passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
He leaves behind his cherished bride Frances (of the Brown family). He is also survived by son Clint with much loved grandchildren, Hayden, Daylen and Callum; and son Kelly (Cris) and lovely granddaughter Riley.
He was the pride of, and proud to be the son of Violet and Bill Paulishyn (Paulson). His brother Bill (Margaret) survives him along with the special nephew and niece, Brad with son Kayden, and Robyn with son MacKenzie, along with sister Grace Kenjak.
Ed was a dedicated Police Officer and served with distinction, first with the St. James-Assiniboia department and then the amalgamated Winnipeg Police Service. He went on to be a very successful Investigator for MPIC. He retired from his chosen careers leaving many friends, admirers and younger investigators who profited greatly from their time with him.
In subsequent years Ed and Fran would change addresses every year to their hideaway in Mesa, Arizona where they developed close relationships with a host of new and long lasting friends. He was able to celebrate his 75th birthday this year in the sun with the Neepawa Network.
Ed bravely battled some health challenges over the past few years invariably recovering to continue his golf and fishing careers. While lingering in the hospital with no hope of recovery he retained and exercised his sense of humour, eliciting smiles and laughter from family, friends and staff who gathered over him. His strong character remained until the end.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1.00 p.m., Saturday, June 17 in the Dugald Community Club Hall.
Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., R3P 2T5.

We were surprised and sorry to hear of Ed's passing and wish to offer our condolences to Fran and their families. I spent many years working alongside Ed in both the Winnipeg Police Service, Robbery and Homicide Squad and later at MPI, working Bodily Injury investigations in the Special Investigations Unit. Ed was a tenacious, thorough and empathetic investigator who successfully cleared most of his files. He was a wonderful mentor to many young policemen and older ones who moved to MPI. We will always remember the great times at the Brown farm baseball games and the many social gatherings away from work. We will miss you Eddy! - Posted by: John and Rita Eyer (Friends and co-worker) on: May 18, 2023

Ed and I worked closely together while doing investigations for the MPI investigation unit. Ed was an extremely professional, well organized and thorough investigator who left no stone unturned during the course of any investigation. These traits, coupled with his common sense and detailed approach led to the successful conclusion of many cases over the years. Ed had a great sense of humour and always enjoyed a good laugh. Ed loved his family and was always talking about Fran, his boys and his grandchildren. We were able to visit with Ed and Fran in Mesa, a place Ed loved and always looked forward to going to for the winter. Ed was a true gentlemen and a great friend. I’ll miss him. My sincere condolences to Fran and the rest of his family. - Posted by: Brent Richards (Friend and co-worker) on: Apr 24, 2023

I thought I would mention that Ed started work as a cadet with the Assiniboia p.d. And worked there until we amalgamated with St James. We had some good times back then, R.I.P Eddy. - Posted by: Bob flock (Co worker) on: Apr 23, 2023

I’ve had 1 week to try and process this loss, and I’m still trying to make sense of this, it still doesn’t feel real. Dad, I will love and miss you for the rest of my life. I’m glad to know that you are no longer fighting or in pain. Thank you for 48 years of wisdom and love, I was not ready to lose you yet, I still needed your guidance and we had so much more to do. I do know you are in a better place, and I will take solice on knowing that. Gone, but never forgotten. RIP Dad 💔💔💔 - Posted by: Kelly Paulishyn (Son) on: Apr 22, 2023

Ed was a former partner in the St James-Assiniboia P. D. After the amalgamation all of us were transferred to various divisions. I often ran into Ed at the former Public Safety Division where the two of us were assigned to different plainclothes divisions. We also met up at various social events. Ed was a great guy and someone I always knew I could depend on in a very stressful job. I offer my deepest condolences to Ed's family and expect to be at the celebration of Ed's life. Very sincerely, Bill Bell. - Posted by: Bill BELL (Former co-worker) on: Apr 22, 2023

Sorry to hear oF Ed’s passing. He was my first Sergeant with the WPS, and taught me many good lessons as a young officer. He developed a shift that bonded many a night with Frances and himself at their home. Those are still cherished memories. So sorry of Ed’s passing. I worked on the same shift in the 70’s and 80’s in the old homicide/robbery squad and again at MPI after we had retired from city police. He was a tenacious investigator who well knew what was required in dealing with the criminal element. He had a great sense of humour and was a fine man. My condolences to his family and especially Fran. Dave Shipman - Posted by: Dave Shipman (Friend/co-worker) on: Apr 22, 2023
