GREGORY VICTOR PATENAUDE

Gregory Victor Patenaude, born June 5, 1944, passed away peacefully at his house on Saturday, April 22, 2023, Greg was predeceased by father Peter Victor Patenaude, mother Dorothy Loretta Kerr and son Kent Michael Patenaude.

Greg is survived by his wife Bonnie Patenaude (Rogers), of 53 years and his three kids, Arianne Chaisson and husband JP, Dr. Amanda Patenaude, Amber Nott and husband Trevor; as well as his six grandchildren, Carter Nott, Jack Nott, Jacob Chaisson, Ava Chaisson, Ella Nott and Ireland Patenaude; his sister Sandra Holdnick and brother-in-law Dennis; his brother-in-law Glen Rogers and wife Debbie and six nephews and nieces, Shawn Holdnick, Jason Holdnick, Krista Bowden, Wesley Holdnick, Danny Rogers, and Ashley Holdnick.

Greg had a “joie de vive” and lived a very active life spending time with friends and family alike. One of his greatest joys was being on Shoal Lake, ON at the cabin surrounded by his family. He loved fishing, boat rides, ATV, snowmobiling, and planning BBQ feasts with family and friends.

Greg met and soon married his lifelong soul mate Bonnie December 21, 1968 in the heart of Transcona on Kanata Street.

As a young man Greg graduated from U of M with an Accounting degree and later utilizing that education as an entrepreneur. Greg earned his Lake life freedoms through very hard work. Greg started as an accountant at Builders Furniture Ltd. in the 1970s and later managed to buy it and grew the company to become one of the top custom architectural millwork manufacturers for major US retailers such as Macy’s and Bloomingdales.

Greg’s life centered around Bonnie, his daughters, grandkids and family. He also shared time with many friends over a nice glass of wine or scotch at the cabin. When in City he had his regular crew of hilarious and kind friends that would meet and socialize at their circuit of locally owned restaurants.

“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.”

Greg’s Celebration of Life occurred Friday, 4:00 p.m., April 28, 2023 at Elmhurst Golf CC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Annie A. Bond Legacy at CE501-840 Sherbrooke St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1S1; info@goodbear.ca

  • I was so sad to hear of Greg’s passing and Bonnie I am very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of spending time at Shoal Lake with the Patenaude’s when I was a child and then when I was married. Dan and I brought our dog to the lake and then our daughter Mackenzie when she came along. Greg and Bonnie always made us feel welcome and made our lake visits special, taking us tubing, fishing and on the quads. Greg was always joking and had an infectious laugh. Lake visits were always spent enjoying wonderful company, great food and of course a few cocktails! Bonnie, Arianne, Amanda and Amber may all your special memories give you some comfort during this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. All our love, Dan, Colette, Mackenzie and Easton Craig - Posted by: Colette Craig (Pelletier) (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2023
