Florence Elizabeth (Lisa) Park was born in Boissevain, MB, on June 5, 1930. She died April 15, 2023, in Duncan, BC.
Lisa grew up in Winnipeg, the eldest of five children. She embraced the pursuit of knowledge and excelled, for example being the recipient of the Governor General’s Medal in high school for academic achievement. Bob and Lisa met on the streetcar on September 19, 1947, and have been celebrating their lunaversary on the 19th of each month ever since. They married in July 1951 and lived in Winnipeg where Lisa studied at St. John’s College and the University of Manitoba, and taught school. They moved to Vancouver Island in 1980.
Lisa’s interests were many and varied. She was a published writer, an editor, and book reviewer. She created many works of art in various media, and made clothing and crafts that are still being appreciated. Lisa loved her home and garden. She had a flair for design, inside and out. She was very creative in the kitchen, never afraid to try new recipes and always ahead of the trends. Lisa loved literature, theatre, opera, dance, arts and music. She was a caring and supportive mother and encouraged her family to be independent thinkers, as she was. Lisa and Bob exemplified a truly happy marriage and a life of adventure together.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband Bob, her children, Kathy (Dave), Veronica, Rob, and lan (Janice), her grandchildren, Doug, Kelly, Danielle, Nicole, Emily, Owen, Jennifer, and Hehley, her great-grandchildren, Kohen and Iris, and her sister Rosemary. She was predeceased by her daughter Barb, her siblings, Doreen, Fran, and Jim, and her parents, Rev. F.J. and Florence Ison.
Thank you to friends and family for your generous support at this time. We are grateful for the kind and thoughtful care provided by Heather Taylor N. P. and the staff at Cerwydden Care where Lisa formed many bonds over the last seven years.
