February 12, 2025...a long snowy winter is taking its time to leave so we can enjoy the re-birth of the gardens we tended for so long. I keep in touch with our beloved sibling David and hope to see him again this summer. Love, always, Catherine - Posted by: Catherine Elcombe (Twin Sister) on: Feb 12, 2025

Dearest Twin Sister, it is now November 2nd, 2024...we turn 3/4 of a Century in 18 days, I am so sorry that you left us too soon. Nothing can console me, still, other than saying "Hello", and I miss you so much. Amazing that despite being 2 months premature and less than 4 lbs. each, we survived despite the odds in 1949 in a rural hospital with no functioning incubators. Love, always, my sister, my friend, and my forever and ever womb mate I am sure we will meet again, God willing. - Posted by: Catherine Elizabeth Elcombe (Twin Sister) on: Nov 02, 2024

For Connie. It is with a heavy heart that I've just discovered your passing. I still think fondly of those Saturday mornings so long ago spent with you and Pete making music in your basement. As well I remember sitting in your back yard sharing quiet moments, conversations, and enjoying your garden artwork. I always thought of you whenever I saw a milk can from yesteryear and imagined you painting sunflowers onto it. I'm sorry that we lost touch, as our paths along life's highway diverged for various reasons. I thought of you often over the years and as I stated in the song that I wrote for you; "A better friend I have not known. Who could sing like an angel and play guitar too" I hope that you can still pursue your passions and interests wherever it is that you are now. I'd like to think that you are singing with the angels. Farewell my friend. As well, I wish to extend my condolences to Connie's family, and especially to Briana. Kid, your mom was a very special person. - Posted by: Reinhard Sedlacek (Friend) on: Jul 02, 2024

A year has passed, and still we mourn, 'Tis in our hearts, you will live on, BroD and me, and all your kin, Like faithful soldiers who, in War, Must tarry not, must carry on. We are alike, with wounds we bear, And yes, it seems, that wounds, unfair, Will stay with us, Forever more. - Posted by: Catherine Elizabeth Elcombe (Twin Sister) on: Apr 06, 2024

Oh my dearest twin sister, I am still crying - it is now close to Christmas 2023. I wait patiently to join you as I know you will be there for me as we were for each other since 1949. Rest In Peace, In His Arms. I will be there to hold you tighter when I, too, will be called. The world is in a mess right now. So many new angels, children and parents being killed in Wars...Ukraine and Russia; Israel and Palestine, it's heartbreaking to see and to think of these new horrors. As Veterans of WWII, Mom and Dad will comfort you. Sending my love. I hope our brother Terry is with you as well. Love, forever, Catherine. - Posted by: Catherine Elcombe (Twin Sister) on: Dec 14, 2023

Such a beautiful soul. So many giggles, such wonderful insights. She meant so much to our family and so much to our pets as well. Animals know a special soul and they recognized hers and loved it. I have a vase she painted in my window which streams in beautiful light every day to remind me of her smile and we have planted a special garden in our property where I will spend a lot of time chatting with her memory. The world has lost a light but the sky has gained a star. - Posted by: Sherrianne (Friend) on: May 28, 2023

I will always regret living so far from my Aunt Connie, who managed to fill our childhood with so much magic and creativity even from afar. Christmas meant a huge box with wonderfully wrapped surprises but not junk from the mall! She handmade satin Harlequin clowns almost as tall as my 6 year old self or lamps that were refurbished using fringe and intricately adorned with teeny hand painted flowers. Forever inspired by her creations and collections. I’ll also never forget how she and my mother Cathie, her twin were able to trick us from knowing who was who! She had a great laugh, a gentle loving caress and never said no to cozy times filled with cuddles and hugs. We were so lucky to have her for the time we did. Elcombes- I am so very sorry to hear of your loss in Connie's passing. I have very warm memories of Connie way way back in Dauphin. When we (Atkinsons) lived there, later visiting and even later reconnecting with Connie in Winnipeg where she taught me to crochet matching mom and daughter sweaters. Thoughts are with you all.
