After a short illness, our beloved Nettie passed on April 19, 2023. Nettie is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Robert, son Adam, daughter Shannon, grandson Christian, granddaughter Olivia, brothers Moody (Carol) Roebuck, Les (Lorrie) Roebuck, sister Gladys (Jack) Pryzner, father- in- law Richard Girden, and numerous extended family members. Nettie was predeceased by parents Les and Lyle Roebuck, brothers Tom Roebuck, Jack Roebuck, cousin Jeannie Newman and mother-in-law Mary Joan Girden.
Nettie was born on May 8, 1952, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She was the youngest of 6 children, grew up in a military family, moving twice before the family settled in Roseneath, ON. Nettie developed a love for animals at an early age, and always had at least 2 pets in the house (sometimes as many as 4). She graduated from the Misericordia School of Nursing in 1986, and went on to have a wonderful nursing career, spending many years on the Pediatric Burn Unit, as well as a Nurse Clinician at HSC, until Rhuematoid Arthritis cut her work life short. To all who knew her, Nettie's life journey is a lesson in courage, love, joy, and perseverance. Her loving personality attracted lifelong friends throughout the world. Her grandchildren, Christian and Olivia were her greatest joy in life, and she was so proud of both of you. Our beloved dog, Jackie, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 19, 2023, just hours after his mom. Take care of our girl Jackie. There will be a celebration of Nettie's life at the Fort Garry Community Centre, 880 Oakenwald Avenue, on Sunday, May 28, 2023. The celebration will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., as a come and go event.

I haven't seen Nettie in decades but when I was 17 and she was recently moved to Winnipeg, I spent time hanging out with her and I accompanied her on a few drives to Shoal Lake, Manitoba to visit our families at the farm. I also wanted to be a massage therapist at the time and she used to let me practice giving massages on her. She was a bright light and a funny, smart, and delightful person. - Posted by: Claire (Padgett) Thomas (Niece of Gladys) on: May 14, 2023
