Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGETTE MARIE MANSON
We are greatly saddened to announce the passing of Georgette (Georgie) Manson on April 21, 2023, surrounded by her family, at the age of 87 years.
Georgie is survived by her children, Greg, Gloria, and Glen (Lorraine); grandchildren, Alexis (Adolfo), Thaddeus, Jian-Julius, Samson, Jenna, and Ethan; great-grandson Alexandre; brother Roger Forest, sister Terry Placktis, sisters-in-law, Pauline Forest, Arlene Forest and JoAnne Forest; nieces and nephews; and many friends that she had made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by husband Ian Manson, parents, Theophile and Aurelie Forest (nee Hamel), brothers, Lionel, Phil, Danny, David, and Edward.
Georgie met the love of her life Ian while working at MTS, and they were married in the summer of 1962. She had a fierce love and pride for her family. Her children knew she was always there for them to offer support in any way she could. Her grandchildren brought her great joy, and they always knew how much she loved them.
Minaki, Ontario was a huge part of Georgie and Ian’s life. Mom was an integral part of planning, building, and maintaining the family cottage. Mom loved gardening. She created beautiful flower and vegetable gardens both in her backyard at home and at the lake. Throughout the years she cherished the times they spent with family and friends at the cottage. She valued the friendships that were made over the years and looked forward to getting together for food, drinks, and laughs with their Minaki friends.
In 2000, Georgie and Ian sold their house in Windsor Park where they raised their family and relocated to a condo in St. Norbert. The condo opened a new chapter in their lives which brought them many beloved friendships. Over the years, two of Georgie’s siblings also relocated to the same condo which added a sense of family and togetherness.
Georgie’s later years were challenging but throughout it all she showed great strength and grace in order to maintain her independence.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or MS Society of Canada would be appreciated as these were both close to her heart.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff on GH3 and SICU at Health Sciences Centre for their expertise, excellent care, and for making Mom’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
In accordance with Georgie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment was held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
