NANCY STAPLES
It is with deepest sadness the family of Nancy Staples announce her passing on April 28, 2023, due to congestive heart failure. On her last day Nancy was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She passed peacefully in her sleep. There are no words to describe the peace and love that filled her room during her last days.
For those who have known our mother during her blessed 90 year journey with us, please join us in thanking all of who cared for her during her last days at Pasqua General Hospital. They are extraordinary professionals dedicated to caring for our elderly with immeasurable compassion. A special thank you to Jan at Eirene Cremations for her guidance and care.
To even begin to describe how much life our mom packed into 90 years would fill a novel. Mom loved to fish, garden, and cook - especially over the holidays when her door was always open to those that didn't have anywhere to go. She was the most dedicated sports fan, enjoying the Blue Jays, the Blue Bombers, Winnipeg Jets and Team Jennifer Jones curling. Everything came to a full stop if there was an important game, which happened frequently since she had a sport for every season. Game shows and card playing were her other passions, which she thoroughly enjoyed with her friends at McMurchy Care Home in Regina. A huge thank you to Bahri and his staff for the years of exemplary care and for always keeping the night light on when a game ran into overtime.
Our family grieves her loss but we take comfort in knowing our dad and Randy were both waiting to welcome mom home. Nancy was also predeceased by her siblings, John, Gladys, Jenny, her two first born sons, Murray and Orville as well as countless good friends who went on ahead of her.
Our mother leaves a legacy of seven surviving children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters and sons-in-laws and a huge number of nieces and nephews that all experienced her kindness and big heart. Her grandchildren will never forget her favourite way to say goodbye at the end of a visit: "Grandma loves you."
Our mother was strong willed and fiercely determined - traits that helped her deal with life's many joys, challenges and sorrows.
She will be laid to rest beside our dad in Hodgson, Manitoba on May 20 in the beautiful cemetery where the birds are always singing, and you can hear the fish jumping in the river.
We will miss you forever and we are thankful for everything you have done for us and our children. Peace Be With You Always until we meet again mom.
Your Loving Family
