MARIE BEST

With deep sadness we announce the passing on April 28, 2023, after a brief illness, of Marie Best at the age of 94 years.

Marie was born on January 5, 1929, in Portage La Prairie and was predeceased by her husband Bill.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Alan) and son Tom (Cindy); grandchildren, Britni, Tanner (Shelby) and great-grandchildren, Jack and Miller; also, two sisters, Jean and Sylvia (Wes).

Mom was a kind and thoughtful person who loved all animals especially dogs. She will be forever remembered as loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The family thank the staff at Fred Douglas Heritage House where Mom lived for the past seven months.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.

  • I lived in the same condo complex as Marie for over 20 years. In her obituary notice it was said she loved animals, especially dogs. That is so very true. My dog, Gizmo couldn't pass her door without scratching to get her attention. He just loved her. She always had a treat for him. He even knew her suite when we passed the block on the sidewalk. Marie was best known to everyone one as " Mrs. Fix It." She always had a hammer or screwdriver to fix a fence or other part of the complex. She was a kind person and had a good sense of humor.
