SHIRLEY JOHANNSON

Shirley joined her heavenly Father on April 16, 2023, at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Joe (Carlyle) and her sister Florence Simpson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children and their families: Judy and Bob Morgan (Tyler), Nancy and Ron Diduch (Lisa, Christopher), Derek and Mary Johannson (Scott and Andrea, Eric and Jenn), Clark and Kathy Johannson (Carly, Lucas, Alana, Will), great-grandchildren, Julia, Matthew, Joshua, Tessa, Adalynn and Weston, brother WG and Nancy Campbell, cousin Muriel Dickie and in-laws, Alma Angus, Robert and Joan Johannson plus many nieces, nephews and friends. She was the backbone of the family, giving support and comfort to all.

Shirley believed that everyone should have a purpose. At the age of 13 she started working. Strawberry picker, nursing aide, and general store bookkeeper were only the beginning of a long career. She met her future husband while working at Great West Life. After having her children, Shirley enjoyed working as the secretary at Margaret Underhill School where she made many lifelong friends. The time came for Joe and Shirley to start a new adventure when they began to build their own business, Carlyle Computer Products Ltd. where Shirley took on the administration and bookkeeping responsibilities.

Going to Florida was something Shirley and Joe looked forward to each winter. Happy hours, coffee times, round dancing, going for supper, flea markets, Busch Gardens, pot luck dinners filled their days. Shirley was a party planner who loved to bring people together to celebrate. Her warm smile and infectious laughter will be missed. She was a true friend and a wonderful mother.

In her autobiography, A Blessed Life, she offered this wisdom: "Enjoy the moment and look for the miracles. They are there!"

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolences to Shirley Johannson's family. Shirley was always a very friendly person with her warm smile and comforting words. And, of course, I can still visualize your parent's beautiful round dancing presentations that they had done over the several years that my late husband and I were fortunate enough to observe. I will miss her dearly. Memories of your parents will comfort me and perhaps the many wonderful memories of your mother with help you through this sorrowful time. Peace be with you. - Posted by: Lorraine Kozera (Square Dance Friend) on: May 10, 2023

  • Our condolences to Shirley’s family. In the last 5 years we were able to enjoy her great personality by living on the same floor in Kiwanis Gardens. She will be missed. - Posted by: Margie & Jim Murdock (Friends) on: May 06, 2023
