Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Paul was a dear friend to Tom and me. The most memorable thing about Paul was his generosity and how he loved to help other people. He once had Tom put an envelope with money in someone's mailbox because he knew they needed it and he did not want them to know who it came from. When he stayed at a hotel, he would leave some money in his room for the cleaning lady. He came to help Tom work on putting siding on the house and he came to help us move to Williston. He loved his children and grandchildren. Despite his vision loss, he managed to do such a great job of shoveling at Hilary's house and at his church. My condolences to the James, Hilary and the rest of the family. He will be missed. - Posted by: Lisa Cohoe (friend ) on: May 17, 2023

  • Sincere condolences to Paul’s family on the loss of your father, brother and grandfather. My brother Tom was best friends with Paul growing up in Pilot Mound and remained lifelong friends with him. Being much younger, I was only on the periphery of their many adventures together. Our family was reminiscing about how Tom and Paul once walked from Pilot Mound to Portage La Prairie, then canoed to Winnipeg using 2 canoes they attached together like outriggers. Apparently they ran aground a few times while playing chess as they rode the current towards Winnipeg. I recently spoke to Paul about another Pilot Mound memory of picking potatoes for the Foresters, for the grand wage of $1.00! My impression of Paul is he was a gentle and easygoing soul with a good sense of humour. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Peter Cohoe (Family friend) on: May 13, 2023

  • I'm so sorry for the family's loss and to the Grandchildren and to the many nieces and nephews for their loss of a good Grandpa and Uncle who was always there for them anytime they needed anything he would give them a helping hand just like He would with His Family and with His friends. He always put everyone else before Him always was willing to serve any chance He could get I remember when I first moved into Gateway Ward at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and I found out that He was assigned to be my Home Teacher He and His companion came to church and it happened to be my birthday so after church we decided to do my home teaching lesson but little did I know they had a small birthday cake for me and sang happy birthday I also had many opportunities to talk to him on the telephone and to help him I will forever miss our talks laughter and our card games when he was able to do that many years ago I even got to visit him when he was at Saint Boniface Hospital because when I was in there before Him and James his Son and James two sons came to give me a blessing which I thought was nice because I wasn't even in Gateway Ward but My Mom was and that's how they found out so there's a good example of how he served and lived his life and I will miss seeing him standing at the chapel doors every Sunday and miss His Advice May He Rest In Peace and God Be With You Till We Meet Again and May God Be With His Daughter and His Son and His Sisters and all the rest of the family during this Time - Posted by: Joanne Smith (Friend of the family and of Paul Gibson ) on: May 09, 2023
