Olga Mary Pleshko passed through Heaven’s gate peacefully on May 4, 2023. She began her life journey on June 4, 1931, in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she was born the third of eight children and the first daughter of Fred and Mary Michalski. She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years Victor and her first child Wesley. She is survived by her children Glen, Douglas (Kim) and Charlene (Sheldon), two surviving siblings (Jennifer, Ed), her step-grandchildren Mark (Charlene), Jennifer (Scott), step great-grandsons (Luke, Mason, Zachery, Blake). She is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Olga’s life had very humble beginnings and true to her character she maintained that humility throughout her life. She was an exemplary daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, sister-in-law, friend, and Baba to her daughter’s grandchildren. Those who knew her were always aware that they were in the presence of an exceptionally generous, kind-hearted, selfless, caring, loving, giving, accepting, hard-working, talented, and beautiful soul.
While Olga’s journey in life began and concluded in Winnipeg, it traversed well beyond the city limits. She loved to travel and visited nine Canadian provinces, many of the United States, England, France, Germany, and Mexico. In addition to being an amazing mother and supportive and loving wife, she somehow found time to engage in, and excel at her many talents which included seamstress, pianist, crafter, chef, and baker while working tirelessly at the “market” where she built lifelong customer and personal relationships with those she met there. And while it is difficult to highlight just one of her many talents, her love of music and piano playing stands out. Olga never had a music lesson, could not read music, but yet was the church pianist and orchestra leader at the Living Word Tabernacle for decades.
Olga had a long, full, and rewarding life, and today as she is welcomed into heaven we celebrate her life, a wonderful life that was. Olga so profoundly impacted and influenced so many lives and she will be greatly missed by each and every one.
A private service will be held by the family and if you so desire, a donation can be made to the CNIB.

I am sorry to hear of Olga’s passing. Olga was an incredible knitter, making the most beautiful sweaters and sewing lovely shirts for my sister and everyone. She was a kind and lovely mother-in-law to my sister and a generous lady. I also remember her delicious cabbage rolls and baking. Our condolences to Doug and the Pleshko family. - Posted by: Tammy McCaffrey (Family friend) on: May 13, 2023
