CAROLEE JACQUELINE KING

1938 - 2023

Peacefully on May 3, 2023, at Charleswood Long Term Care Home, Carolee King passed away.

Carolee is survived by her son Cameron (Philippa) and her beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Annabel.

Carolee was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Winnifred Burr; her sisters, Patricia and Sharon; her brother Donald, and her husband Jack.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Carolee really enjoyed her career as a teacher and educator and had so many fond memories and stories to share about the students and colleagues she encountered along the way, particularly in relation to her long tenure at Lincoln Elementary School and Arthur Oliver Elementary School in St. James. Carolee loved music, singing in choirs and her involvement with various Irish and Scottish cultural groups.

She enjoyed many trips to New Zealand to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

The family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Charleswood Long Term Care Home, Right at Home - Winnipeg, and Carolee’s dear friends, Maureen Gardner and Connie Newman for making sure that Carolee’s needs for quality of life were met.

At Carolee’s request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will occur at a later date.

If family and friends so desire, donations in Carolee's name may be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Cameron we are sorry to hear about your loss. I have such wonderful memories of your Mom. As a beginning young teacher she was a real mentor to me in so many ways. I did a term “ practice teaching” in her grade one classroom. The team at Lincoln was amazing and many of us were together there for many years and we developed long lasting friendships. We shared our experiences visiting our kids in NZ in the later years. It was a privilege to have known your Mom. Lorne and Susan Lisik - Posted by: Lorne Lisik (Friend) on: May 17, 2023
