MAYME TURNER

1920-2023

Mayme Turner passed away peacefully at Fairview Home on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

She was born Ethel Mary Cooper to Albert and Ellen Cooper on August 16, 1920 in Carnegie. She was an only child, so she learned how to help her dad with outside chores and her mom with inside chores. Being a country girl she learned how to ride a horse bareback to and from school.

Mayme met Bill, her husband-to-be, in a potato patch while picking potatoes. They had two children; a son, Bill and a daughter, Ethel. Her hobbies were many, and she enjoyed her garden, baking, sewing, knitting, square dancing, bowling and curling. They had many vacations traveling to England, Scotland, Norway, France, Alaska, California, Colorado and the Maritimes. Mom and Dad enjoyed spending time at Sandy Lake in the cabin they purchased on the lake shore in 1959, where they spent many summers entertaining family and friends. Her favourite thing was a cup of French Vanilla coffee from Tim Hortons.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Shirley) Turner and daughter, Ethel Teetaert. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Hardy (Sherwin) and her children, Madison, Josh and Noah; Greg (Cindy) Turner and their children, Grayson and Logan; Chris (Shari) Teetaert and their children, Zachary (Holly), Milo and Sadie, Bronson (Brit), Keegan (Lorie), Spencer, Arabella (Jaxson) and Xavier; Kimberlee (Kirk) Dreher and their children Mitchel (Menehemet) Meona, Hannah (Galia) Fontaine and Nashon, Cassidy (Eben) Royce, Seth, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mayme was predeceased by her husband Bill and son-in-law Charles Teetaert.

A funeral service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, MB on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.

A big thank you to all the staff of Fairview Personal Care Home for all the care given to Mom during her time at the home.
