PATRICIA MAUDE MACAULAY

December 12, 1939 - May 10, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that Pat passed away peacefully with family at her side on May 10, 2023 at the Misericordia Health Centre.

Patricia leaves behind her beloved husband Donald, children Blair (Deborah), Cam (Karen) and Jill (Kelly), five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Barbara Warner. She was predeceased by parents John and Kathleen Hart and in laws Donald and Mary MacAulay.

Pat was born in Winnipeg, grew up in St. Vital and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. In 1961 she married the love of her life Donald, and was a stay-at-home Mom raising their children until they were all attending school. She started out working at a Property Management firm and then went on to work at Travel Manitoba, a job she really enjoyed. She made many friends at work and stayed connected with them, meeting up for dinner parties after retirement.

Pat spent her life dedicated to her family, friends and to those in need. She put in many hours of volunteer work some of which include: the Board of the Kirkfield Westwood Community Club serving one term as President, the Winnipeg Fire Department Support Group, Salvation Army Toy Mountain, delivering Meals on Wheels for twenty years, preparing and serving lunch at the build sites for Habitat For Humanity, and helping out at Kirkfield Park United Church with teas and the Christmas hamper program.

Pat was a huge sports fan and especially enjoyed watching hockey, football and curling. She was an avid gardener and spent a great amount of time perfecting the garden in her yard. She loved to host dinner parties with friends and family for birthdays and holidays with Christmas being her favorite time of year to celebrate. Many fun memories were made with great neighbors at the family cottage on 2nd Avenue at Grand Beach. Pat loved going shopping and enjoyed many trips to Grand Forks making sure to stop in every store. She traveled to Scotland twice, but her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii and had many memorable holidays there.

The family would like to thank the Home Care team for all their efforts and the care and kindness from the 6th floor staff at the Misericordia.

A private family graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pat's memory may be made to the Salvation Army or The Fire Fighter's Burn Fund.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • My sincere condolences on Mrs Macaulay's passing. She was another mom to us boys that grew up together. As tough as my mom (if not tougher!). Nothing got by her. I ran into her a number of times at the Goldeye's games. She always came over and said hello. Always interested in how my family was. She was first in line to call when mom and dad passed. So long Mrs. M. Never goodbye. - Posted by: Thomas Beggs (friend) on: Jun 02, 2023

  • Pat was a wonderful lady. She was my neighbour and friend for 15 years. My children loved her and would always want to go next door to visit. She always helped me out, she watched my children, kept an eye on my house and brought us Hawaiian host chocolates from Hawaii every year. I will truly miss our conversations. She taught me lots as well i.e How to cook a Turkey. I am deeply saddened by her passing. My condolences to my friend Jill, her dad Don and her family. - Posted by: Sara Wedlake (Friend ) on: May 27, 2023
