With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Bruce on March 23, 2023 at his residence in Winnipeg at the age of 70 years. Bruce was taken from us far too soon.
Bruce was born and raised in Winnipeg and spent his entire life in the St. James area. Bruce was an accomplished hockey player, coming up through the system and ending his career as a goalie with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Bruce loved the outdoors and spent a summer as an aide to a University of Manitoba Masters student doing his PhD in geographic environmental mapping. Upon completion of this project, Bruce set out across Western Canada ending up in Vancouver, BC. Upon his return to Winnipeg, still afflicted with the travel bug, he set out for his favourite country, New Zealand, where he spent a month traversing the country with camera at the ready. Upon his return to Winnipeg, Bruce began to search for a career, ending up with Canada Post Corp., spanning a 30 plus year career as a dedicated letter carrier.
Bruce is predeceased by his parents, Doug and Doris; his grandparents and uncles.
Bruce is survived by his brother, Douglas and his niece, Carrie, both of Edmonton, AB, along with his best friend Mike Ivey of Winnipeg.
There will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, donations can be made the Grace Hospital Foundation or the Deer Lodge Hospital Foundation.
