• Like Greg above I was a long time baseball teammate of Tiger Bill. I met the wonderful Brenda many times over the years although I haven't seen either of them for several years. • While I was privileged to spend but a little time with Brenda (typically at the season end Copa celebration), it was my honour, privilege and pleasure to befriend Bill while playing for Team Appleby in Law League softball, alas some years ago. Those days are now fond sepia toned memories, but treasured ones. Bill's warmth, wit, honesty and directness, and not least his fierce competitiveness, endeared him to me and our teammates, and as a relatively younger lawyer in that company, I was significantly influenced by Bill's intellect and philosophy. A seat at the Summer Wednesday night post game Pemby table with that group was a wonderful thing, and the luminaries/colourful characters would often wax eloquent (and delinquent) about the topics of the day, and would be brought back to earth by a pithy and often hilarious observation born of Bill's considerable experience and wisdom.
