DONALD ROBERT SMORANG
In the arms of his family, Don passed peacefully at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre at the age of 79.
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Delores, daughter Larissa (William), brother Ken, sister-in-law Fern, brother-in-law Stephen (Radina), nephews/nieces, Barclay (Lisa), Bill, Carolyn (Steve), Kristy, Tim (Veronika), Tanya (Colin), grandnieces/nephews, Annika, Cambree, Kaylee, Hannah, Isaac, and many cousins, extended family, colleagues, neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Nick Smorang, brother Carl, sister-in-law Gail, and grandparents, Michael and Mary (Kwiatkowski) Smorang and Michael and Anna (Shuhyta) Kush.
Don was a generous, fun-loving man with a big heart who made everyone laugh and smile. He dedicated his life to teaching, and his own thirst for knowledge fueled his countless creative pursuits, a passion for travel and gardening, his curiosity to try new things, an uncanny ability to solve problems, his leadership roles at school, contributions to community, and his active service in the church.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 3, 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB and livestreamed at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
We will love you forever Dad!
Rest In Peace.

Don was the best neighbor anybody could ask for, always ready with a helping hand...loved to tell stories and with his great smile and laugh it was a pleasure to listen to. Everybody in this neighborhood will surely miss him. To Delores, Larissa, and Will....God keep you close. - Posted by: Len & Stephanie (Friend) on: Jun 01, 2023

Mr Smorang taught my grade 9 class at Cecil Rhodes. He was a stern teacher but never failed to help a student out when they needed help with school or even just in personal matter. He was truly a kind soul and a marvelous teacher - Posted by: tanya (former student) on: Jun 01, 2023
