It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arkady Edward Liwyj, age 83, on May 22, 2023, at Park Manor Care Home.
Born in Kirovograd, Ukraine on June 11, 1939, to parents Natalie and Alexander Liwyj (predeceased), he leaves to mourn his wife Yvonne, his twin sister Halina Iwanson (Walter predeceased), his sons Anthony and Peter (Lisa), his grandchildren Stephanie Grabowecky (Cody), Christina Liwyj (Sean Schwartz) and great-grandchildren, Presley, Brooks, Scottie (Stephanie), Zane, Brielle (Christina); Stepchildren Sharon Kenny (Rick), Richard Coss. Also predeceasing him are his grandparents Anna and Afanasij Liwyj, who Ed adored.
In WWII Ed and his family fled Kirovograd (1943) and when they eventually made it to Canada, Ed was 12 years old. Ed enjoyed a 33 year career at MTS and retired as a Senior Systems Analyst. Ed was a member of St. John's Lodge; Worshipful Master in 1996. He was a proud member of The Scottish Rite, a patron of Eastern Star, and a Shriner.
Ed was known for his lifelong passion for photography, something he mastered. He was most known for being a very generous and caring person, and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
The family would like to thank Park Manor Care Home for the honest and excellent care they provided over the last 5 years.
