DANIEL LEE COURCHENE
With sadness we announce the passing of Daniel Lee Courchene on May 27, 2023, at the age of 37 years.
Daniel will be dearly mourned by his family: mother Cheryl Dion, father Donald Courchene, sister Collette Courchene, niece Tacey Courchene, nephew Dason Courchene, half-brother Brant Dion, kokum Irene Dion-Martineau, auntie Kelly Dion-McFeeters, and all of his numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Kokum Mildred Courchene (nee Fontaine), mishoom Henry Courchene and maternal grandfather Archie McFeeters.
Daniel was passionate about his art; he found solace in his drawings. He was always drawing, it brought peace to him, and he was a very creative person. He loved his niece and nephew and our dog Max. He had a great sense of humour; his smile and laugh were contagious. Daniel played sports; he enjoyed watching hockey with his nephew, teasing each other of who would win as they watched. He travelled to many places in Canada and the U.S. He had a loving relationship with his sister and cousins, the bond was strong, he lost one of his cousins way too soon. Life had its challenges and he kept trying to get better, sometimes we don’t win the battle. Dan was strong, and he had visions of a good life, he believed in living a good life. Dan leaves loving memories with his family. He will be sorely missed.
Wake services are being held at St. Alexander Parish Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation, MB, June 3 to 5, 2023. Funeral Service will follow in the church on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment in St. Alexander Cemetery.
