BERTHA GIASSON

Bertha Giasson was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba on March 5, 1933 to Helene and Albert Smith. She passed away on June 6, 2023 with family at her side.

At the age of 18, Bertha married Robert, and they enjoyed 57 blessed years of marriage. Residing in Fisher Branch they raised six daughters and three sons. Upon Robert’s retirement, they relocated to Stonewall to be nearer to family. Bertha lived life to the fullest, enjoying gardening, crafts, garage sales, and actively volunteered for many causes, but her main passion was always the church. Her spirituality provided her with the utmost fulfillment. She was happiest when assisting Robert, providing him with encouragement and support as he pursued his ministerial services as a Deacon.

Remaining to forever cherish Bertha’s memory are her children, grandchildren, siblings, and numerous extended family and friends. Mom, you were an inspiration to all of us. You provided us with unending love and positivity and taught us the importance and value of faith. You were an exceptional homemaker and modeled the true value of family.

Prayers will be held at Christ the King Church, Stonewall, Manitoba on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the Stonewall Legion. Interment will be held at the Fisher Branch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bertha’s memory may be made to Christ the King Church.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to the Giassin family, especially Daniel and Yvette whom I grew up with. Both Bertha and Robert were wonderful neighbours and I have many fond memories of visiting their home to play with Yvette. They were also special parishioners in Fisher Branch. Our family sat right in front of them which gave me a sense of closeness and bond to the family. Sending all of you hugs during this difficult time of losing your mom. ❤️ - Posted by: Dolores Thiessen (nee Meilleur) (Friend and Neighbour ) on: Jun 13, 2023

  • Big hugs to your family. Your mom had the biggest heart and sense of humour and was inspiring. Hoping that the many happy memories or your parents/grandparents together ease your grief a bit.
