LOUISE LAGE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise Lage on June 9, 2023. Louise is lovingly remembered by her children Margy (John) Nelson and Ed (Joyce) Lage, grandchildren Kristina Lage (Andrew), Bryce Nelson, Sean (Kara) Nelson, Jordan Lage (Stasi) and her great-granddaughters Lucy Lage Condon and Holly Nelson, sister Irene Herda (Allan) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Rudy, as well as other family members and friends.
Louise was born in Zaporojhe, Ukraine on May 23, 1939 to Konstantin and Anny (Klassen) Kritschen, and after living in France for 8 years, immigrated to Canada on January 13, 1952 residing in Winnipeg ever since. She met the love of her life in North Kildonan, which remained “her neighbourhood” until her passing.
Our mom adored her children immensely, but she stated that her Favorite People in the World were her four grandchildren which now has expanded to include her adorable great-granddaughters! She was fiercely proud of us all!
Our mom was a proud woman with many talents; her artistic flair was evident throughout our household. Louise took great pride in her looks, and really accomplished that well! Our mom was a beauty – inside and out! The fact that our mom had such a busy social calendar spoke to her dedication to her many circles of girlfriends. Dementia became part of mom’s world for the last 8 years, and we want to thank all her “people” for staying in touch with her. She appreciated you all! We would also like to thank the staff at River East Personal Care home.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St. Reception to follow.
If friends so desire, donations to CoHabit c/o Cerebral Palsy Assoc. of MB. 903-213 Notre Dame Ave. R3B 1N3 would be sincerely appreciated as Louise’s grandson Bryce will benefit from making CoHabit his home. (cohabit.ca)

  • I have been blessed with the opportunity to know Rudy, Ed, and Margy. Judy and I send prayers and condolences to the families and friends who are feeling this deep loss. - Posted by: Jeff McMaster (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2023

  • Louise was definitely a bright star with boundless energy and work ethic! Margy, while like your father, you are very much your mother’s daughter. Louise was always very enthusiastic about any endeavour her daughter was in charge of! She was a shining example of how to embrace all of life’s challenges… she did not shy away from taking on anything! She will be so missed by her family and friends but will join the love of her life Rudy for now. RIP wonderful lady!❤️ - Posted by: Faye Harden Meech (Friend to Margy and John) on: Jun 23, 2023
