Mel was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, spending his childhood in rural Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He graduated from Full Gospel Bible Institute where he met the love of his life. After graduation, he married Gretta and then spent a few years as a Pastor before moving to California for eight years. Mel came back to Minnedosa to become a Bee Farmer. Mel then became owner and proprietor of Taylor Maid Realty until his retirement, when he moved to Winnipeg. He was an active member of Minnedosa Covenant Church and Faith Covenant Church in Winnipeg. Gretta and Mel loved volunteering at the Covenant Heights Bible Camp.
The family thanks all of Mel’s friends and the staff at Devonshire House, the staff at Grace Hospice and all his doctors and nurses who took care of him during his illnesses. Special thanks to Doctors Hartley, Goldenberg, Hochman, Poole, and Zhang.
Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations to Mel's honour can be made to the Covenant Heights Bible Camp in care of Faith Covenant Church, 1229 Windermere Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3T 1A7.
