Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGAIL LECUYER
Gail Lecuyer, wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother and friend passed peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023, after courageous battles with heart issues and diabetes.
Gail was born on July 14, 1943, to Pauline and Henry Keryluk in Winnipeg, MB. Gail was one of four Keryluk children, twin to brother Larry, and youngest sister to Madeline (Lynn) and Audrey. Pauline and Henry raised their family on Cathedral Avenue, next door to the family business, Henry's Shoe Clinic. Gail met the love of her life, Wayne Lecuyer, by a chance introduction through her brother Larry, and were married in 1966.
Gail and Wayne raised three boys: Chris, Jason and Gene, while building their family home in St. Andrews, MB where they lived for 30 years. Gail was a stay-at-home Mom, taking much pride in raising her sons, and eventually enjoying her four grandchildren just as much. During her time in St. Andrews, Gail was one of an incredibly selfless group of people that helped build the St. Andrews Community Centre into what was the heartbeat of the neighbourhood. Many lifelong friendships were made in St. Andrews that Gail cherished. As the boys married and moved on from St. Andrews, Gail and Wayne followed their sons to East St. Paul, MB where they lived for 11 years, and then South Surrey, BC for the last eight years. Family was very important to Gail, and she was happy to be living close by.
Gail and Wayne enjoyed many family summer days camping around Falcon Lake and then onto a lovely spot at Arnesen's Rocky Point near Warroad, MN. When the winters came, travelling to sunny locations around the globe was their retreat.
Gail will always be remembered for her big heart, sharp as a tack wit and humour, and perogies! She will be dearly missed but will always be carried in our hearts.
Gail was predeceased by her parents, Pauline and Henry, sister Lynn, brother Larry (Bernice), and brother-in-law Auke (Audrey). She is survived by her husband Wayne, sister Audrey, children, Chris (Marnie), Jason (Susan), Gene (Lisa), grandchildren, Justin, Taylor, Joshua, and Paige as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Preeti Bolina, the staff at Royal Columbian and Surrey Memorial Hospitals, as well as the caregivers at Nurse Next Door, for the support and care shown to Gail during her illness.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to Diabetes Canada or your local animal shelter. These donations can also be made through the funeral centre.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Gail on Monday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial Park & Funeral Centre 14831 - 28th Ave, Surrey, BC.

Gail was our Bingo caller at St. Andrews Community Club for many years and during the last 12 years of the program while I ran it, I had the privilege of getting to know Gail. Gail was such a beautiful person, inside and out with a wonderful sense of humour and I have many fond memories of her. One that comes to mind was when I called her one evening. She said she was baking with her grandchildren and in her very respectful manner towards me, she let me know nothing would interfere with her valuable time with them, and she would therefore call me back later. It was evident that family was so very important to her, particularly her loving grandchildren. I was truly saddened by the news of her passing. My deepest condolences to all family and friends. - Posted by: Karin Beauchemin (Friend) on: Aug 06, 2023

Gail was more than a cousin as we grew up together from a very young age. She was more of an older very caring sister who I admired and have so many precious memories of her. Deepest sympathy to Wayne, Chris, Jason, Gene and her sister Audrey and grandchildren. May you rest in peace Gail. - Posted by: Babs Ryzowski (Cousin) on: Jun 28, 2023

My deepest sympathy go out to Wayne and the entire Lecuyer family. Gail was an instrumental part in building St. Andrews Community Club, making it a truly friendly and family oriented place. She was willing to put in numerous ours hours creating an enjoyable place for all the local rink rats to hangout and meet up with friends. Gail was a friendly, good hearted lady who always had a kind word and smile on her face. When anyone asks me about the early days of the community club, Gail is one of my first thoughts. Thank you for everything you have done. You were one of the great ones. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Rob Yuzark (Friend) on: Jun 24, 2023

Gail was a very sweet person. She had a ready smile for everyone. She was super friendly and always cheerful. My husband Grant and I felt welcome at their place anytime. We usually had a cousin's reunion at least once a year, sometimes at our place, Greg's place and sometimes at Gail and Wayne's. We always felt more than welcome when they hosted in their home. She was super proud of her boys and loved to talk about them and her grandchildren. We missed Gail and Wayne when they moved to B.C. It was like losing part of our extended family. Sorry for your loss Wayne. You made a beautiful couple. Doreen Wuckert - Posted by: Doreen Wuckert (Wayne was my cousin.) on: Jun 24, 2023
